vijil, thank you, that's the most sense I've read in this entire thread. Another flaw I find with the 1986, and vijil points this out very clearly with his comment about the Dinobots. If you haven't seen the seasons prior to the movie, there are just some aspects you aren't gonna get. In the 2007 movie, your casual movie viewer can go in and enjoy it although they might not get the same appreciation out of it that a TF fan might. And get with the times guys, 80s metal just isn't going to work anymore. Personal distaste for modern rock really doesn't make it not fit in with the movie.
I'm confused with the name switch...some are saying its mistake...now some are saying its "intentional" a spoiler of sorts for the next movie...so which is which?
Both movies made me happy and giddy. The 86 film was the highlight of my young life. I loved it from begining to end. Everything in it just seems so iconic to me, like it was always ment to be. Many people hated that the earlier cast was killed off, but I freaken loved it. It was just so bruitial, the way a war should be. The new characters completely captivated me. Pretty much all they had to do was show up on screen and they felt as familyar to me as the old cast did. Now jumping ahead 21 years to the '07 film... I had very much the same kind of experence. Which is much harder to do as I have become so sophisticated a viewer. Simply because this was Transformers presented in reality it made the live action film better in every way. I can't help but to now imagine what the 86 film would look like in live action. Any way, as an experence... I'd say for me they are very much alike. To me they are both G1 Transformers at their best.
Thanks guys, it's nice to know that you guys don't judge people based on their collection count! The problem with having a massively overactive imagination is that now I'm going to start designing a movie version unicron... augh
Even in live action, the Transformers are still cartoons. I guess it's just me, but I haven't been waiting my whole life for a live action TF movie. The fact that the new movie is live action isn't a big point to me, but I think if this movie were animated, computer-generated or otherwise, it wouldn't as well received as it has been.
Let's compare 1986 to 2007 -- this is the thread I've been looking for. Actually, no, I don't remember that. I'll have to see it again. But seriously, I hated the motion blur. My eyes were not happy while I watching the shaky cam action scenes. It was just more of a strain for me. But either way, for animated movie, I can forgive the animation errors, because let's face it, The original cartoon series was riddled with animation errors. Maybe they were just keeping with tradition. And for the liveaction movie, I think I used the words 'probebly' in reference to the animation errors. Or at least I should have. I wasn't trying to make a factual error, more like a possible reason for the motion blur using my usual sarcasm. That's all.
I will respond because my son just watched this for the first time 2 weeks ago and I watched it for the first time since I was 11. My son loved it and it was better than I remembered. We got it from Netflix the 19th of December and haven't sent it back yet. Going to need to track down our own copy.
Oh, come now, einis, "five years"? Don't exagger- *looks at the date* However, we're not really much better seeing as how we are now contributing to it.
Steve Jablonsky's mentor was the great mother fucking Hans Zimmer who scored Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Inception, and so many other great films. Jablonsky did a great job with the score for the trilogy and I hope to see him comeback even if they reboot. I also would like to see him do a G.I. Joe reboot as well. The songs in the 2007 movie were fucking epic and the music in the 1986 film was complete garbage that made a scene with TFs dancing seem even more idiotic than it already was. Surprisingly enough, Shia LaBeouf (a fan of the original cartoon and movie) actually enjoyed the movie. But then again, he was like what, 2 years old? So I guess it just depends on age I guess. But in truth, I think the 07' movie took itself much more seriously than the 86' one did. And anyway, the 07' movie had Linkin fucking Park! How much better can it get?
So your saying that an outdated 80s piece of crap riddled with animation errors and continuity plot-holes that killed of old characters and forced new ones down as if we needed any is better than a modernized, contemporary, and realistic film that has not only made more money than the 86' one did, but also managed to create more fans than the 86' one did? HOW MUCH FUCKING SENSE DOES THAT MAKE?
