I have a quick question about the "movie edition" mail-in Megatron from the G1 series. Was anything different about the toy from a regular Megatron? I know it came with a certificate and sticker (I need both). But other than that, were there any differences?
I have researched it a bit more, and found the page for Megatron on Fred's Workshop. The only differences documented for G1 Megatrons are involving eye color, holes on the chrome rifle, firing mechanism variations, etc. All minor changes that do not really distinguish a mail in Megs from a regular one, and all differences that cannot be traced to a specific Megatron release.
There is one on eBay right now that claims to be a "Movie Edition" Megatron. Assuming it is not just a regular mail in megatron with the certificate put in, you could check out the pics and compare with a regular megatron. 1985 Transformer G1 Megatron Movie Mail-Away Custom AFA - eBay (item 350162092529 end time Jan-29-10 19:56:37 PST) you may want to contact the seller and see if he knows for sure that it is a legit movie mail away megatron. I have a non-movie edition mail away megatron posted on my Superstar Collector page. You can check the close up pics and see if there are any differences from the normal megatron. I would bet the regular mail away megatron was the same as the movie mail away megatron. maybe not, of course, but i would guess they are from the same stock. ------------------------------------------- Check out my G1 AFA/MISB/Loose Collection
My memory is too hazy to be of any use to you here, but I think my little brother had one- and I had the general release. I don't recall any striking differences (except that at some point his no longer had both arms). Like I said though- my memory is quite hazy on this.
