I get mixed feelings looking at those, but mostly disappointment at toys I knew I would never own then and have even less chance now. 85 was a great year for TFs though. I got Jetfire for Christmas that year. I saw the Joe aircraft carrier for sale at a comics shop a couple months ago, described as "complete" for $800. That thing is still one of the biggest mass-market toys ever made. I bet I could've buried my little brother in one back in the day.
I believe it floated, just not well. It’s been so long I really can’t remember. I just remember shoving my brother in it and trying to close the landing strips on him. (and outside the pool not inside =)~
ah the occasional Sear catalog thread, I do so love seeing those old toy pics. The 80s were a great time for toys, its a shame video games have had such a devastating effect on the market. I esp love the G.I.Joe Aircraft carrier pic with all those Shipwrecks on it.
Wow, what a trip down the lane of memory!!! I REMEMBER those actual photos as far back as '83... I ACTUALLY TINGLED when I saw that horribly mistransformed Prime from '84, I recall making fun of that photo. And all the other goodies, Super Friends, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., Sky Commanders, Centurions, Voltron, Go-Bots etc etc etc... Wow, thanks for the trip!
I remember keeping catalogs for several years and looking at them close to Christmas time every year, not realizing that most of the figures weren't on the shelves by that time.
Ah good memories indeed, man did the 80s have great toys or what? Anyone ever wish they could pull a Marty McFly and scoop up a bunch of these?
If your talking about the toys numbered 22 threw 26 the answer is yes to some of them.My aunt bought me some of those for X-mas thinking they were Transformers right out of a Sears or Service Merchandise catalog. But I had no idea that they were Diaclone figures.Live and learn.
Looking at the GIJOE aircraft carrier.....do they even make anything that big anymore??? Great find and thank you, sure brought back many memories of when I will sit and circle what I had, what I wanted.... We are getting older guys and it sucks.... .....
Wow now this takes me back aww the good ol days when i would lay around looking in the ol sears book.....gosh i miss that.
Looks like deja vu all over again. Man, looking at those 80s' catalogs bring back memories. And I remember that GI Joe carrier, must've cost a lot back in the day.
I dont completly remember.I know the box'es were dark so that would be ether dark blue, dark grey or black with red fading to yellow lettering if I remember right.
I've always thought the same thing, however, if they did and it was identical in every aspect, i.e. parts, packaging, materials...it would probably retail for $300.
They've mistransformed the seekers so badly it's funny. Most are missing their wings, and one's got them upside-down in robot mode. XD I wasn't actually alive in the 80s, so I don't remember these.
