I've always wondered what happened during these years...we need a season 2.5 so we can see just how the Decepticons got so powerful and took control of Cybertron....(I guess they always had control. They left Shockwave in charge. Anyhoo...) Where did guys like Magnus and Hot Rod, etc. come from.....stuff like that.......we know the origins of the movie 'Cons but not the 'Bots. All we know is a little of Kup's history off on other worlds fighting ickthyacks or whatever they are...
Don't know... would really like to find out... maybe they could do up a comic series that reveals what happens in between season two and the movie.
The Binaltech storyline took place during this period. It's a little weird and I know it's not in my personal canon, but it's fun to look at.
Where can I read the BT storyline? So Jazz goes from '84 Porsche to a RX-8 back to an '84 Porsche for the movie and after? It'd be interesting how Spike goes from yellow boots to silver jumpsuits
Rest easy, the BT univesre was an Alt G1 universe where the events of the 86 Movie doesn't take place, at least they haven't yet. http://www.geocities.com/oblivionsgallery13/binaltechstory.html Through Skids anyway. http://www.fantofan.jp/photo gallery/binartech/story/bt-17.htm Dark Commander
Oh yeah, I forgot about Scramble City. However, I only saw the fan commentary of it on the 20th Anniversary edition of the animated movie, so... I really need to buck up on my Japanese and start trying to get all the Japanese TF vids.
the Dreamwave G1 comics were supposed to be happening within the present, which at the time was leading up to 2004. They tried to write them as though they were leading up to the events in the movie, with varying degrees of success. I kinda like them, so I accept them into my own understanding of the timeline.
Nitpicking, but how does one "see" a commentary? I was very pleased to see "Scramble City" on the movie DVD, and then I got pissed big-time because Sony didn't include an option to watch the episode WITHOUT the @#$%ing commentary. I wanted to hear the original Japanese voices. There's even one bit where one of the commentators says something to the effect of how you can hear how Soundwave's dialog sounds very much like the US version, to which I yelled at the TV, "THE HELL YOU CAN!" All we could hear was them talking. Afterwards, I discovered YouTube, thankfully.
Dreamwave is it's own seperate continuity and has nothing to do with past G1 incarnations in terms of chronology. Jazz ain't based on a car from the 80s. He's a 1976 Porsche 935 Turbo"Martini Racer" 4 custom for the Le Mans racing tournament and is the the only exact car of its' kind. Other Martini Racers that use the 935 Turbo are decked out with different customizations so that no two cars look the same. Um... I know all of this because I had a bitch of a time trying to find references of Jazz's real-life counterpart.
The cost was too much. Sony didn't want to have pay royalties to all the Japanese contributors to that one episode, so it was elected only to have fan commentary by J.E. Alvarez and our own Tony Bacala. I'm happy they gave us that, at least
Well, there was a DVD on eBay not too long ago. It featured both Scramble City and Zone. Original sound tracks plus subtitles. Hopefully it will apear again someday. It was a happy purchase that day.
