I liked the original show a lot. Animated is also pretty cool.

Love the show. But if I had to choose a favorite it would Spiderman and his Amazing Friends..followed closely by Dungeons & Dragons.

Y'know, I really confue myself sometimes...

People hate City of Steel, now I don't like the G1 cartoon much, but if I had to pick one episode I actually did think was okay, it'd be city of steel. It's just so funny and ******ed in a good way. the Animation was... sub-par, but the battle-taxi's and Prime controlling his body parts mentally, well I just thought that was hilarious.

You forgot Mighty Max, Bots Master, Conan the Adventurer, King Arthur and the Knights of Justice, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball/DBZ, and best of all Samurai Pizza Cats. The 90s had plenty of good shows.

That's what I thought when I saw the thread title...not the first three words, of course. I haven't seen the whole original series (still waiting for my mate to get off his ass and get them for me) but what I've seen is really cheesy. It couldn't have hurt to, I don't know, have them actually aim right instead of shooting into space? Give Ratchet some work, fer cryin' out loud!

    80s cartoon > 90s cartoon

    none of that PC/awareness crap.

seriously guys. CARBOMBYA. that stuff would never fly in the 90s.

I don't think in terms of best/worst but is G1 my favorite 80s cartoon? Yes

I liked the show before it was called G1. It WAS The TRANSFORMERS. Without it, nothing could have followed. Greatest? For it's day yes, and every Transformers series since has made a node to it. AMEN!

Eh most of those were not so great. Samurai Pizza Cats was a direct ripoff of another great 80s cartoon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I will give you that Conan was a pretty good show.

What PC/awareness? You mean like gun violence and murder? Have you seen some of these shows?

Carbombya was funny as hell. Though it did drive away one of my favourite VA's from G1.

    See? Good cartoons.

It was alright. Though one of the prolific G1 writers had a low opinion of the series due to the 'GET IT OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN' approach of the production, where there was little care put into reviewing and rewriting scripts to make them stronger than the initial drafts.

Honestly, that explains why the localisations of Armada and Energon were so poor. Hasbro didn't care in the 80s, and they didn't care in 2002-2004 so long as the episodes were made quickly and cheaply.

Dude, Batman TAS, Superman TAS, X-men, Spiderman, SWAT Cats, heel even Beastwars, and I could go on and on and on. Both the 80s and 90s had some awesome action cartoons. But unlike 80s cartoons, many of the best stuff from the 90s is just as awesome to watch now as it was back then.

Transformers was awesome back then, but now not so much. I still can't say I have a favorite though because I watched a ton of cartoons when I was a kid. I think M.A.S.K. was tied for first, but I loved Jason and the Wheeled Warriors too, and Pirates of Dark Water, and a ton of others.

    No Amen for you.
