This is Hot Rod based on the M.A.R.S. Chevy Belle Air mold. This is not turning out the way I had originally planned.

I disassembled and cleaned the entire figure. Then I base coated the car parts in white. Then I did 2 or 3 coats of red. The front and rear bumpers were painted gloss black and then repainted in chrome. Robot parts were done in black and then dry brushed. Added details and exhaust pipes. The head is from some cheap piece of junk I found at Big Lots and I had to remold it.

The chrome on the front bumper cracked, The yellow does not cover evenly. The head is too big for the body and I had to make some modifications inside.

I plan on doing flames based on the G1 figure. Right now my printer is out of ink.

I am not happy with how it turned out. What do you think I can do to fix some of these issues that the pics show?

I meant that the head was too big to fit inside the body. I had to modify the inside of the body so his head fits. Thank you. I think the head looks pretty good too. I'm getting used to it.

I thought the head could have been better and there were areas where the paint came out uneven. It's lighter in some spots. It all looked fine until I put it all back together. I just might put this on ebay once I get the flames put on it.

Those MARS toys are too much fun! I'm so glad Destro switched over to making toys. He should be a lot happier now.

Could anyone possibly help me with the flames. I can't find a picture of anything I'm really happy with. Either the flames don't look right or the angle is all wrong.

Well this may seem silly, but you could always have a peek in dollar stores & whatnot to see if they've got any sort of flame decals that would work. I remember a friend of mine finding some really nice ones a number of years ago & using them on his lego shit.

However, if you're wanting to experiment on your own with an airbrush (or even with online images if you've got a good photo printer), I'm sure that googling "realfire" will blow your mind in a good way.

I always thought about using this M.A.R.S. figure for a vintage Kup custom.
