Unusual for someone from the UK to be the first to receive anything Transformers, but Universe swerve arrived this afternoon.

    Pics, follow the link.

This is not a camshaft remould as some have speculated, very different with some quirky and cool transformation steps. I dont understand why this never got a mas release... it's waaay better than Camshaft.

It's approximately deluxe-sized, we could see it mass-released (in different colors) either as a Universe toy or maybe in the TF2 toyline.

Indeed, the instructions have the Universe logo on them.

Looks great. I think the instructions say Universe, because it's already a limited-release part of the Universe toyline. For Hasbro to do a mass release run, they'll have to pay a ton for royalties, and unlike Alternators which were sold at a higher price point, the universe deluxe price probably wouldn't recoup licensing fees. Also, average Joe wouldn't pay a premium for this figure over other deluxes in the universe line during a mass release.

I'm assuming the licensing agreement with this figure is different from the movie figs, since those were a huge marketing platform for GM, so Hasbro probably got a deal.

I would however, love to get one of these, mass release or otherwise.

That is an amazingly well designed and simple transformer toy.

    It looks great.

Is it just me, or does he seem kind of short? Isn't Movie Swindle a bit of a runt?

I really like the engineering on this figure. There are vague similarities in the transformation to Swindle... but without sucking. :)

Yeah, he's an awesome little guy. I've had him for awhile and it's stunning the amount of engineering that went into this toy. I have to agree with others though that have state we're not likely to see a mass release of this guy though as the licensing fees would cost them a pretty penny and a deluxe probably wouldn't be able to recoup that. Though, if a store were to take it as an exclusive sold at a slightly higher price point... still, it probably wouldn't sell that well to average joe schmoe... but hopefully they'll start to become a little easier to get for those in the states whom want one like it's become for the guys in Europe.

I got mine this afternoon as well.

I don't see why so many people think its a Swindle remould, has it really been that difficult to find galleries of it?

I love him. Got a proto version a while back which i'll eventally add to the TFW alternator proto galleries, but haven't fiddled with him too much as he seems to be covered in a fine powered plastic/dust/hopefully-not-toxic-thing, which is a tad unerving...

Anyone else find it ironic that the Chevy exclusive is hardest and most expensive to get a hold of in America?

Well, the color and overall shape and size of the car itself are really similar, so I could see the confusion. That said, he looks a million times better than Swindle. I wouldn't mind seeing a line of deluxe-sized alternators similar in design to Swerve.

A guy at Tfans called Chevy and they said it's not going to be sold here and that it's an overseas exclusive only.

Something tells me most US buyers will be shit outta luck on this one. It seems everyone who ordered them from Europe is getting first dibs and IF there are any left then perhaps some of us will be lucky enough to get them.

...I wouldn't hold my breath! They won't even respond to any emails about it. At least, they didn't respond to any of mine.

just in case, I wouldn't wait for any emails saying they shipped either because they are just showing up at peoples doors rather unexpectedly from what I'm hearing.

Wow. These guys are really on the ball huh? :lolol

So, wait a minute, did they send you the item without charging your card first or did they charge your card and you haven't actually looked to see what the charge was?
