I have no problem with cleaning up a shot and revamping a special effect. But i do wish Lucas would leave stuff like Han Shoots first alone. It goes from making Han a badass to making Greedo the worst shot in the entire f'in galaxy.

I'll keep to my remastered versions. There was a lot of stuff I hated then that are now fixed (like the AT-ATs, blue screen stuff, etc...) I love the movies, but Lucas spoiled me with the new versions.

The one thing that really bothers me (had it been done right it makes the Trilogy better) is the exchange between Han and Jabba in IV. I know originally it was just a fat guy, but the personalities of Jabba in IV and VI do not match to me. And even though they improved upon him for the DVD release, he just doesn't look right.

I'll get them, because I want a digital copy of the original theatrical releases. But I much prefer the 2004 release. Sure, there's the stupid things they added in 97 that are still there, like Greedo shooting first, but overall, they look and sound a hell of alot better.

Me too, now Han just seems lucky.

I only want 2 versions, the original raw film and the 2004 version.
This is still a definite watch tho

Also waiting/hoping for a release of the original edited scenes

Wow, that's coming up soon. So are all three getting these 2 disc releases? And how long will they be available?

My biggest problem was the change with the Emperor. While I know it "wasn't the Emperor" in the original, but the SCRIPT change made no sense. Why would Vader be after Luke in Hoth when Palpatine is first telling him that Luke is Vader's son?

Vader knew but was going along with the Emperor as he's his boss, Vader always was just whatever you say my master with him. Vader would know just from the "Press" that the pilot that blew up the Death Star would be getting.

Man the links off of starwars.com to take the photo tour are all 404, that sucks.

I have waited for this ever since DVD was created, I will get them on day one.

As annoying as Gredo shooting first may be, it's not nearly as annoying as the music changes in Jedi. Arrgh- that song in Jabba's palace, and then changing the Ewok music? Then adding in Hayden instead of the old ghost Anakin? I may buy them eventually, but I still have the VHS tapes of the originals.

I'll get ANH and RotJ as they are the ones actually ruined by Georg Lucas' ham-fistedness.

Empire Strikes Back is the bestest as the changes are MOSTLY minor and don't really screw with the flow or the characters.

Yah, Hayden sucks and no half-assed explanation as to why he should be there instead of Shaw will convince me otherwise, not when it was fine for 21 years especially. Same thing with Morrison's Boba dub in ESB, it's trash, Stick with the original, or at least match the original level. The rest, songs, Greedos, etc., I could live with. OK, the lightsabers need some work. :D

These discs won't look very good. They're not going to be anamorphic, so they'll be pretty crappy.

Vader knew who blew up the Death Star, Sidious knew that Vader knew, but as Vader wasn't supposed to know at that point, they both play it off that Vader isn't aware of who it was. In one of the comics/novels it's revealed that Palpatine finds out from torturing a rebel that was at Yavin IV, and Vader from intimidating one of those present at his torture.

yeah, TT is right, esb is pretty much ok the way they've released it on dvd. I was gonna get the other two, but since they didn't do ANY of the touch ups, especially to remove the blue screen artifacts, I'm not going near them with a 10-foot pole. even as a kid that annoyed me, so I'll just deal with the way they butchered my favorite, rotj. :(

It wasn't a butchering, they shoved it through a wood chipper.

Then swept those bits up and steamrollered them flat again.

The put it in some crazy device that mangles things.

    Then set it on fire.

Then released it again without checking it.

The greedo shooting first thing was appaling the movies were really about the change of han solo from scoundrel to hero. Its just like greece with that change of a young women from mouse to slut, you couldn't change that and rerelease it
