Okay, so this guy is almost done. I got some "extras" to make and tie up some loose ends on things. But here it is. I gotta say, this is my favorite so far. I know it is not perfect, but hey, neither am I :)

Here is my Burnt and beaten Sam and a gun.

Nice, are all the parts gonna be from the Wing Zero kit?

Well, I am going to use most of the kit, but I am going to do a lot of scratch building with styrene and the peterbuilt model kit.

Then airbrush the hole after all the pieces fit. Then they will be removed for paint and reassembled.

I, of course, have a real soft spot for this kind of project.

Having completed 4 TFs like this from model kits and 2 more in the works, I have a pretty good idea how much hard work and patience it takes to get a decent result.

It looks like you're off to a good start. Best of luck.

I find it's much easier to build an original design for one of these compared to trying to match the existing look of a specific movie character. Obviously (based on those awesome pics of the scratchbuilt Optimus) it can be done. I'm currently building a movie Barricade and I'm finding it a lot harder to match some of the smaller details. I think in the end, as long as the major car parts are the same as the movie model, I'll be happy.

These things are a real challenge. Have fun!

Thanks for the pics, I have been looking for those!!! Could find them.

Timshinn73. I am going to ask a lot of questions for sure. I really want to get as close to the movie, but I also want this to keep all the articulation of the gundam. Well, I do plan on adding tha chest/mid-torso ball joint articulation. I have to make the hips and torso larger anyway.

I'm curious to see how using the gundam parts works out for you. Was the gundam expensive? Just curious. I mainly use legos for the skeleton because they're easy to modify and they're cheap. I do use joints and parts from a few Patlabor models I have from time to time as well.

I've got 2 Primes planned out. One will be the Movie version and the other will be my movie version using more of his classic G1 flatnose look.

Good luck with the mid section articulation. Several of the TFs I've built like this did not have that particular feature. I'm trying it on the movie-style Constructicon Bonecrusher I've started. He's a big one.

I promise no more tiny process pics. But I get so excited when the lights come on for the first time. These will of course be removed and wired inside the chest when all most of the structure up top is complete.

I am using The Pitt chest and waist area for the torso. I also ordered some spawn cyber units for robot parts.

The truck model is a 1:25 Revell Peterbuilt 359 Conventional Tractor.

So a couple of new pics. I have been working on the legs and feet. I really want to get the feet right, I dunno, just feel that is important.
Now to take a brake and finish a couple of other things while my "robot" insides are coming from eBay.

Any suggestions on what to had or how to improve this is welcome!!

i wish i could tell you, but i couldn't even believe that it wasn't CGI at first.

i think hasbro/takara/some of the other companies should come up with stuff like this. there is certainly a market of adult collectors willing to pay a lot of $$$ for a figure of this quality. the masterpiece line was pretty successfully marketed towards older collectors, IMO.

I'm pretty sure you will still improve on it, but i think the legs/feet look a little stocky with how you put on prime's parts over the existing gundam armor.

I have absolutely no experience on scratchbuilding myself, so I can't really give more constructive suggestions. :)

The legs look great, particularly the feet. Curious to see where you go with this one, bro.
