12" ROTF Optimus Prime Statuette by Popbox

BBTS Pre-order page reveals a look at a 12" ROTF Optimus Prime Statuette: 12" Optimus Prime Statuette - Transformers Transformers II - Revenge of the Fallen (2009) Statues at BigBadToyStore

$369.99!! Holy crud! Isn't the Leader figure that same height and 1/10th the price? 12 friggin' pounds of expensive non-transforming is what that is. I guess the hands transform via parts-forming.. so there is that I suppose.

Yeah, Sideshow's piece is the one to wait for. This seems like it's based more on the promotional CGI renders.

And Bgrngod, some people prefer collecting stuff like this rather then toys. It's just a matter of taste and on where your collecting preference lays.

Wait, the flames are decals? You mean you've gotta pay all that money to get it, and it's not even done? And he just stands there? No thank you. If he had been kneeling, in the "I'll take you all on" pose however...

This is way too boring of a piece, definately. Can't see this selling well.

It doesn't even look terribly more accurate than Buster Prime, which is way cheaper. The proportions, especially the feet, look a bit cartoony even. The flames don't even seem to have pinstriping on them. Lame.

As stated above, wait for Sideshow's version. It'll probably be 3x the price, but a much better sculpt.

I'm at a point where I much prefer statues(and Masterpieces) to toys. But yeah, I'm waiting to see what Sideshow brings. Does anyone know what PopBox stuff is like?

The Sideshow one bugs me for one simple reason, the stupid/retarded position he's sculpted in, who the hell came up with that terrible crouching half turn?

I would've been interested (even with the 'holy crap' pricetag) had this statue had a more dynamic pose. Prime just standing there looks like the Leader toy trapped in an invisible box.

From the ad pics his head looks too big in proportion to the rest of his body. Does anyone know if there are bigger or high res photos of this guy floating around?

It's the infamous Pat Lee Constipation CrouchTM. Quite why they dragged out that particular pose years after Lee's company vanished up his own arse god only knows, but i'm sure he'll claim credit for it.

the sideshow StarWars toys regularly get me all excited about the other elderly franchise i slavishly follow (well, that and the neca/hot toys aliens, so the other other franchise) but they are horribly expensive - i'd have to choose between central heating and figures if i was buying more than couple of sideshow jobbins a year :(

Head is deffinatley too large. The pose is just boring, though could be improved with the swords attached. The price is not a selling point, and decals? For real? For that price I'd at least expect them to be painted. TakaraTomy and Hasbro can do it, why not them?

    imo? QA.

'collector level' quality control on those would be a bitch, and on a statue like that you *really* don't want too many not making the grade.
