A first, looking at the pictures, I hrew a royal fit. Echos of "What have they done to my beloved Primal? Bastards!" Now I feel I must take that back.

With the figure in hand I can appreciate it a lot more. I'm not too impressed with the gorilla fists, but I can overlook that. The transformation is incredible, and well thought out. Upon looking further I notice that his beast mode is more of a gorilla/orangutan(sp?), baboon hybrid. Robot mode is stunning as well, at least to me.

Overall I think I've figured that thay wanted to do something special for the 10th anniversarry, but wanted to keep them in the "deluxe" figure range. He's definitly worth the price, even though it's not the same Primal we've come to love...

I completely agree with ya, despite the fact that my Primal's beast mode has two right feet.

Mmmm...I'm so-so with this figure. The robot mode looks great. He needs a moving waist but other than that he looks great. The gorilla mode is a bit lacking in the aesthetics department but it does move pretty well. I really don't like his surfboard at all. It's too big and doesn't pose well with the figure.

Overall, I'd give this figure a 6 out of 10.

I've liked the BWX Leaders since the first pics popped up...I do agree that Primal's Beast Mode is lacking a bit, but I really like the robot mode and I definitely like the fact it's different from the norm. I just read in my local sightings forum they were seen at the TRU around here recently...I might have to go get them tomorrow.

The hips not wanting to stay together bugs the crap out of me, but otherwise I kinda like the figure.

If you open his chest in Bot mode you'll notice what looks like The Key to Vector Sigma (IMPO) any ideas WHY that perticullar TF Cannon object woud be put where most Primes have The Matrix???

First off, just for your information:

    Cannon: a piece of artillery
    Canon: An official story element

And to the actual question, Primal never possessed the Matrix, so it's not exactly appropriate for him to have one. As for the key, the bios for BWX Megatron and Primal point to them being reincarnations post-Beast Machines (and IIRC, in the club comics, BWX Primal is a new body for Universe Primal, who was a reincarnation of BM Primal). After all the trouble the key caused in Beast Machines, I assume Primal thought it would be pertinent to safeguard the key himself.

I think it's a cool reference too. The surf-bazooka is sweet with a little posing:

Makes a far better underarm cannon than a shoulder cannon, I feel.

I think he is ok. Megs on the other hand I just can't put down half the time. I play with him almost once to twice a day. OP just lacks the coolness of Megs.
