Found a link to this over at the Allspark; it's apparently some comments by the guy who translated the bio for MP Star Saber into English for Hasbro (presumably for stuff like the Australian release, I guess - so this doesn't mean a North American release)

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/110873392336772/permalink/783785038378934/

EDIT: Also, some notes on the MP Magnus bio translation in the FB comment thread:

Was wondering how long that would take.

I haven't seen Victory myself, but I'm aware of how dramatically different he is compared to his use in IDW, so I definitely get why people would be upset over this.

At least it's just instruction paperwork for the Australian release.

And it's not a matter of Yuki agreeing; it's Hasbro Australia wanting to replace the Japanese packaging with English stuff, and hiring someone to do it who decided to use the Western fiction as the basis for the bio instead of the Japanese fiction (and as such, only really having IDW Star Saber to draw on)

Ha! That's hilarious. It doesn't really mean anything, since MP Star Saber is in no way, shape, or form supposed to be IDW Star Saber (and vice-versa), but I'm going to love seeing the people who get unreasonably upset about this.

If he looked like IDW starsaber that would be one thing, but it is based on the G1 character, I have very thoroughly explained why I hate the IDW version in the starsaber thread, so this is supremely disturbing news to me

So does this mean we're possibly getting a US release of Star Saber sometime in the future or is it exclusive to Australia only? Because if that's the case it makes sense if the new Masterpiece package for him has his IDW personalty since that's his first real appearance in a TF related series outside of Japan and it's likely the first exposure to some fans who had never heard of him in the IDW comics.

Oh good, they used the interesting version of Starsaber. Shame it doesn't look more like him.

And yet, people will still bitch and moan about this even though it doesn't affect the toy itself one bit~

I personally think it's cool, especially with how the guy went and translated it into both English and Latin!

I will freely admit I MIGHT have over reacted, every time I see this depiction of Starsaber gain any officially sanctioned inclusion, (outside of MTMTE mind you) a part of my brain short circuits and I get somewhat inconsolable

But to be clear, I have no hatred towards any who enjoy that version of Starsaber, my hatred is trained squarely at writers, so please don't take my comments personally

Well this is great. Hey maybe next we can get a MP Optimus bio that talks about how he rips off faces. Or a MP Bumblebee Bio that mentions he can't talk cause Megatron crushed his voicebox.

For a character to be that character he needs to have some actual traits in common with his previous depictions. But hey lets have Star Saber continue on his path to being the TF fandoms Hank Pym.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest, even though it is beyond stupid. All of my versions will be the Takara Japanese release, so meh.

That's a poor comparison. The IDW Starsaber doesn't affect the Victory Starsaber in any way. While the Hank slap may be the lingering impression for non-fans of 616 Hank, it was still 616 Hank. You might be closer if you argued that the legitimately wife-beating douche Ultimate Hank was like this, but again an alternate depiction doesn't change the original's characteristics.

Feels to me like there is no translation going on if they are using a depiction that is not Japanese in origin, so how exactly is this a "translation" then

Why do localizations tend to mess stuff up?

Meh, doesn't really bother me because fortunately enough it can be easily ignored. Though it's not really much of a "translation" if he's just completely changing it entirely.

That's pretty awesome, I am one of the few that loved evil Star Saber and is one of the main reasons I bought the MP figure.

Also the hate that will come from this easily ignorable bio will be too delectable to ignore.

So my understanding of this bio is that it's for the Hasbro Australia release of the TakaraTomy toys. Australia DOES get the Japanese figures released domestically by Hasbro, but apparently they add in some translated materials.
