Not sure where you are or how old the stuff is, but there are 7 main ways I've found to divest myself of comics (in no particular order):

    1. On-line sites like this
    2. Craig's List
    3. E-bay
    4. Comic shops
    5. Halfprice Books (or somewhere like them)
    6. Donate! (Thrift shop)
    7. Burn them

    Buena suerte!

    Well...
    1) Sometimes works
    2) haven't thought of that
    3) NEVER worked
    4) most don't want to buy
    5) I don't know what that is
    6) Hmmm.... Tax write-off's are nice...
7).... I'd like to avoid that if at all possible.

Yeah, it's hard to say.. You'd have to find someone who wants all of what you have or be wiling to then get rid of stuff they don't, ebay is a crapshoot, not to mention shipping costs...

I, too, have had little luck with e-bay, but when I'm desperate just to rid myself of them, I go to a local comic shop and take what I can get, which, as you might imagine, is not much, but it's better than the burning alternative, right? Also, you might ask for store credit, that always goes over better. :)  Halfprice books is a sweet chain of book stores that sell everything printed and movies and music - all used - for, what else, half price. I'm usually able to get decent dough out of them for stuff, but, again, not much. Basically, the idea there is to look for used book stores. You never know...Another key is sets, sets, sets. Singles are hard to get rid of, but sets often sell decently.

have you ever tried MyComicshop in Texas? Your Online Comic Book & Graphic Novel Store | mycomicshop.com

Depending on the condition of the 1000 comics that you currently have, they usually not pay much for issues but you will get rid of them. For the comics, you will either get cash, credit, or a combination of both. It is how I got rid of my comics and they are pretty good.

Craig's list is free to set up an account.
