According to the American Heritage dictionary, here are the 100 words that every high school graduate - and their parent - should know and be able to use correctly in a sentence.

I'm sure aside from Lance, Streck, and possibly Ops, we have a whole load of people here who know them all as well, right?

I don't know if it is country specific, but I would imagine that it's geared towards American if so.

I know a good majority of the words, but I know plenty of HS grads who would have no clue.

Yeah, that's what worries me. The one's who don't know a good majority of the words.

Part of me thinks the only reason most American women know the definition of "irony" is because a Canadian wrote a song about it.

They forgot to add the word "pretentious" to the list. Hell, Ive got another one. How about "pompous"?

I fucking hate lists like these. There are SO many other things to worry about besides a useless vocabulary list which includes the oh-so-common word "ziggurat".

That woman was no Canadian. We cannot be held responsible for the idiotic ramblings of Alanis Morrisette, no more than we can be held responsible for the non-sensical popularity of Celine Dion.

I hear they're currently working on their newest list, "150 Words That Every Video Game Fanboy Who Hates Women Should Know."

It includes words such as "socialize," "relax," and "PSTriple."

I'll worry about people knowing the definition of "yeoman" after everyone learns the difference between "your" and "you're".

Dawg, that PSTriple is straight up ballinnnn'!

Funny enough, the only reason I know the word "ziggurat" is because of a video game. I fail to remember what game it was though.

Interesting list, and I know quite a few of those words. I have a bad habit of using them in a discussion and people look at me with that blank look on their face, or walk away. It was funny with my last boss at my last job as she ALWAYS had a blank look on her face, and it just got emptier.

I was out on number 3. I know a good amount of the words, but can't say i've ever heard that one. Or lugubrious for that matter.
