I did the utmost basic paint job on this by spray painting the plastic trees in their base matching colors. And then I when back put it together and went over the nip mark with the right colors and did minor details that had to be done. And gave it a black panel lining to achieve the Anime line drawing non-realistic feel to it.

The most I did on this was paint the green parts of the GN-Drive (back engine) in reverse and on the inside. By that I mean I put down clear green first to bring of the details on the gears and then I put down a mint green to represent the GN Particles. Because if you painted the out side of the gears/ring you would lose all of that sweet detailing.

I also gave it a few crimping beads in the surface of some areas and drilled light holes that did go all the way through to detail it up a bit.

I acquired some really sweet waterslides from a website and it's basically like a China base reprolabels for Gundam Models. I hit it with the the caution and warning labels, a few Celestial Being marks and Exia symbols, put the carrier ship's name on his shoulder. My fav decal is the left knee one. I love seeing other model builders slant their bigger decals across Gundam and Mechas or their weapons.

I've always admired the patience and skill it took to come out with a ultra-clean gundam paint job with just the right amount of panel lining and details.

    Great job :thumb

Thanks for all the comments guys. I plan on doing another one and putting in green LEDs to mimic the GN glow. I also want to add a lot more detailing to it like more panel lining and panels.

So many things one could do with this kit.

VERY NICE! I've got this same kit at home - just haven't touched it yet. That's about to change after looking at your pics. Nice work man.

That's just freaking fantastic! Love the work you've done... I'd totally get a 1/60 if I didn't already have a 1/100.. .and the fact that the MG is out too.

awesome stuff bro. I always lay base colors with the parts attached to the trees. I have done it both ways where you spray each piece attached to a stem. Seems the only reason to do it that way is if you can not blend your brush strokes at the injection cut points. I have done every kind of injection model kit gundams have the best enjection points for trimming. It is because they make them flat instead of round.

Do you have a link to the website you mentioned for decals? I have several kits that could use them. Also are the decals high end decals? Do they break easy or even smear? A good indicator if they are good quality is if they have a light blue paper backing. Some good ones do not have a baby blue backing though.

Sure I have a few places actually.

    Samuel Decal

    Mecha Skunk

    NYCHobbyNet

Samueldecals is the best. While I am not quite sure if they have blue back or not it's been quite a long time and I have since used them all.
