It's been a while since I posted anything. Thought I'd share a few work in progress pics of the project I've been working on the last couple months.

It's a 1/25 scale Caterpillar D8H Bulldozer model kit I'm turning into a movie style G1 Constructicon Bonecrusher maquette.

The skeleton is made from Lego Bionicle bits and the rest is from a AMT/ERTL D8H model kit. The kit has been carefully cut into hundreds of pieces to fit onto the skeleton. My goal has been to keep the bulldozer parts in the same relative area as the G1 Bonecrusher design. Trying to find a pleasing middleground between the G1 design and the movie aesthetic.

He's over 12 inches tall and has 21 points of articulation, including head, neck, shoulders, elbows, fingers, chest, waist, hips, knees, ankles and feet.

So far, I'm having a lot of fun with this build. Very challenging. Still have loads to do before he goes to paint. Still have lots of parts from the dozer kit to add to the legs and torso (including more treads and the hydraulics). And I always save the head for last.

Anyway, thanks for taking a look. I hope to post more work in progress pics as I near completion.

Interesting work from you as always. Concept works, the silhouette is good. Some nice stuff going on with the detail and lines of the arms, chest and upper legs. Feet seem a bit undefined somehow, however (tho the back of the lower leg is good). Something unresolved about the design there.

Very nice. I'm getting a Transformers Prime type vibe from the design. I know it's supposed to be movie based, but it still looks a bit Primish to me. I'm sure that'll change after a while.

Still, awesome work. I look forward to seeing where this goes.

This looks incredibly pleasing. I assume the translucent head is just a placeholder ?

    Thanks! Glad you like it!

Non-transforming, but glad you like it otherwise.

    Nope. Thanks! :)

    Thanks Ra88! Most kind!

Feet and legs are not finished. Still have lots of dozer parts to add. My goal is always to hide as much of the lego stuff as possible while retaining articulation. Hope resolve the remaining issues soon.

I can see the Prime vibe too. I suspect if I try to stick to a fairly realistic paint job, it might lose some of it's Primeness.

    Most kind.

Yep. I always try to save the head for last. Still lots to do before I tackle that part. In the meantime, I'm collecting useful bits for when I do get to it. Gonna use parts from the dozer cockpit, found items and sculpting.

Thanks a lot! Yep, have this one in the works and a G1 style Bumblebee (similar to the Cliffjumper I did).

Haven't really been "out of things". Just haven't taken any pics of anything I've been working on for quite some time. I guess these little projects do take me a bit longer to finish these days now that we have a new baby (our 2nd) to keep us busy. I get to spend 20 minutes here, an hour there on stuff like this, which is just fine. Good "down time" fun. Typically, these projects take a month or so to finish. Still the case most of the time, it's just spread out over time. The size, weight and number of parts for Bonecrusher adds some time too. I did a lot of work on making sure the underlying structure was sound enough so he doesn't collapse under his own weight.

Thanks! Hope to have some updates soon!

Needs paintwork. Needs to look like a well used construction vehicle with dirt and rust here and there. Otherwise it's definitely awesome!
