Hello everyone! It's taken me too long to get round to this, but finally signed up so I can post some of my stuff (you may have seen this over at Sector 70 or TFormers).

So, G1 style 1/24 scale Sideswipe... Yeah I hadn't done much before this (couple of repaints and minor mods, an articulated G1 Soundwave from the oversize KO, nothing too complicated) but I picked up a few 1/24 model kits and had it in mind to try a reshell. Alternators was a major line for me, got me back into collecting, but I just wished they had used those original G1 alt modes. I heard the Lambo wasn't used due to licensing difficulties, so thought it would be a good one to start with (and also Sideswipe's transformation is fairly easy so I thought that would simplify it considering it's my first attempt at something like this).

Anyway I began by trying to reshell an oversize Universe Sideswipe KO, but it ended up getting mixed in with a MP seeker for the legs as I progressed and I realised I wanted it to be as G1 toon accurate as possible. That meant not having wheels on the shoulders (which always bugs me on Sideswipe art/customs) and Uni SS had a great solution by folding the wheels inside. Mine revolve vertically rather than horizontally (allowing steering in alt mode). The rest is fairly straightforward; kept the seeker foot transformation but added Lambo exhausts on the bridge of the feet; rear wheels retract into the car body for bot mode; G1 missile launcher clips on shoulder...

He's not quite an Alternator because he's lacking opening doors and interior, but that was happily sacrificed for a stronger bot mode.

EDIT: Added more photos in post #52

Seriously impressive. I would love to see some WIP shots if you have some. It's always nice to get an inside look on how amazing customs like this are made.

    Bravo

I see you've decided to make all of my collection look like garbage. What did my toys ever do to you?

Seriously, this is perfect. Aside from the excellent and faithful details and conversion, its the way you've captured the ideal proportions that really gets to me. Love it.

I also love seeing the Countach, my favorite car as a kid. I've realized that even if Alternators got the license, or Classics used real cars, they'd use a modern Lamborghini rather than one from 30 years ago. That makes this a real treat to me.
