He has reinvested in many collections since the "Million Dollar Auction" purchase. I have watched his sales closely from that point, and post from arduous research. He has recouped about $27,000.00 from the initial "Million Dollar Collection" purchase. The rest are from sales fom other collection purchases. The best example is......there was 1 MIB Hot Rod in the "Million Dollar Collection", and he has sold 1 misb, has for sale 1 misb, 1 afa misb Hot Rod, and 1 mib sealed contents for sale.
Here is the quarter million dollar auction (a sign of the times I suppose): Biggest Transformers, Anime figures, Macross, Gundam ++ - eBay (item 300290843438 end time Mar-03-09 11:06:40 PST) I'm no Macross/Gundam expert, but (A) there is no way he has spent 100K+ on these, and (B) there is no way its worth more than about 20K And the best part is he won't even ship it to the winner, only local pickup. There must be a a lot of suckers in Colorado Springs.
You also have to take into account the expense of having the items AFA graded if he had everything graded (that was gradeable), as well as all the listing, FVF, and PayPal fees. Recoup costs may be closer to $18-$20K. All I can say is dayum, that's a big auction, and all the shelves too. Maybe not worth 225K, but it's up there.
