Welp, I'm actually a little saddened and a little hopeful with this news.

On the one hand, I enjoyed The Last Knight and was hoping to see how the story played out with Cybertron in Earth's orbit and Quintessa + Unicron still out there.

On the other hand, there are some definite problems with Michael Bay's style, and with the opportunity for a fresh start for the current movie-verse, there's a possibility that a truly great Transformers movie, without the influence of Bay, could one day exist.

I predicted already in 2013 about the downfall of Bayverse, and people laughed and mocked me. Paramount is the one to blame for all of this. They begged Bay back 3 times, thinking only for the sake of cash-grabbing.

Confirmation to what has been speculation until that point. Sure we could all see the writing on the wall but it seems like Paramount was going to drag their feet as long as they could about making it official.

With Paramount making the announcement it seems even more likely that we are headed towards some sort of big reboot rather than some other attempt at a soft reboot. It also makes you wonder just how hard Paramount will promote the Bumblebee movie if the live action series is just going to sit until they can start over.

Can't say speculation when Hasbro themselves let it slip. But I am surprised at how long it took for Paramount to make the announcement. I'm guessing that the shift in leadership which took place around that time may have delayed it since Paramount gave more thought into what they can do going forward after the new leadership settled in.

There are some neww posts on the internet mentioning that the movie is delayed and will not be a 2019 release BUT the original source mentions the words 'pulled' and 'reboot', which clearly states what Paramount intends to do, if true.

Now I'll never get to see the humans freak out over Unicron showing up. Maybe they shouldn't have treated the Transformers so badly in TLK. Karma is a bitch.

Actually, when you think about it, the way it's worded... it seems like future Transformers films may still be set in the current movie universe, just one that follows a divergent timeline with the Bumblebee film leading into it. Maybe that way, they can keep what worked about the movies and cut what didn't.

As much as I despise Bayformers, they should let Bay direct the final movie, and wrap it properly. We are left with a TASM 2 ending cliffhanger....

So if the BB movie does well, they will resume production of Transformers 7?

You have to understand that Paramount is in panic mode. "A quiet place" has been the most profitable film for them in the last 3 years. Daddy's Home2 might be second. Some have barely broken even but the have flopped! All public knowledge.

That being said, Studio's, Shareholders, etc. are becoming aware that moviegoers are talking more with their wallets now. Especially core fans of long existing Franchises. So if Bee is more G1 oriented and has quality that attracts the TF's that Bay has repulsed throughout the years and results in a huge success then NO, they're noting going back to Bay's crap unless they're stupid.

Studio's can't afford to just do anything hey want anymore. Locus Films is learning that now themselves.

This is my prediction if Bumblebee is a success: There will be two sequels that lead up to the 2007 film. The Bayverse will still continue, but in a different format. Paramount will set up Transformers 7 in 2021, and let Travis Knight direct it.
