I recently upgraded from dial up to road runner, and for a while the board was loading lightning fast, but ever since shortly after the upgrades its been slow as hell. It seems to take longer to open a thread now then when I was on dial up. I first thought the problem was on my end, but every site that I go to is coming up super fast- except here. Sometimes while I'm waiting for a page to open here I'll get impatient thinking my computer is being slow, and go to another site thats in my favorites, and it'll come up in a heartbeat.
Its not all the time, but it seems to happen a lot; is this a price we're paying for having larger avatars? I'm also getting server errors more frequently here, usually while trying to open a thread, or go back a page.

One thing I initially did to compensate for that was remove some features of the board that use extra processing power, like the thread and post counts on forum listing pages, along with keeping threads per page lower, and some other things.
While those were in effect, site ran smooth. Lots of complaints tho, so I put them back in, and it seemed to slow things down.
I personally didnt have any issues, other than the occasional page load/lag so I never did anything.
I will look into this, but it may take a bit, and require we cut back on some board functionality. TOYARK.COM - An all new site dedicated to all things toys. Brought to you by the TFW2005.COM and HISSTANK.COM crews. |
