Regarding Status Of Auto-Abbreviations

I am just wondering the current status of this issue with it either being turned off (which in my opinion, I prefer) or at least fixed to minimize the issue.

I am saying it here since that is what Tony B would probably prefer and if possible, I would like an answer from him.

Here is my evidence regarding Complaints about this issue:

I HATE typing "T.F" and having it automatically converted to "Transformers"... EXPECIALLY when it it converts to "Transformers" in the plural, when I meant it to refer to a single T.F.

I don't like forum settings that think they know what I want better than I do. Abbreviations are part of language and our specific vernacular. It seems wrong to "hide" them.

This. Is. Pointless.
Not only that, but it screws up some posters' user names. Transfan2, for examble, signs his posts Transformers 2, and is often referred to as such.

... See what happened there?
Yeah. I actually typed "T-F-2" (without the dashes).
A lot of series are commonly referred to by their abbreviations; it's not just because people are too lazy to type them in full.
So as much as this wasd a nice idea, in practice it's not so hot. Is there any kind of option that would allow users to decide whether or not this is for them? Enforcing it board-wide isn't a great idea, and quite a few posters don't like it.
I just thought you guys should know.
Also. R_I_D is an actual word. And Beast Wars had a C_R chamber.

I do not understand why it's necessary to have the board software rewrite my posts to do away with acronyms. When I write "G-1", I mean it. I think it looks awkward to have a post use the long form every single instance it's reused. That makes board conversation look a lot more stilted.

I can see the reason to counter the popular interwebs trend to abbreviate everything ("lol, 'k, i dunno wot u mean?"), but really - if someone wants to write that way, it's their fault. They could be told to write in a more intelligible manner. Having those posts automatically converted into non-shortened speech only helps support their laziness.

Worse yet, sometimes shortened forms are specifically used for stylistic reasons. Also, they could be part of a quote (like the "G-1 Series" sub-titles on the Universe packaging). And I don't want the board software to rephrase something I'm quoting.

Simply put, I don't want this board to rewrite my posts because the staff has decided for some reason that acronyms don't look that great. I can accept a swear filter, but I don't understand the point behind this.

Can anyone please explain me why this was installed in the first place? An attempt to achieve higher Google search result rankings? I find it odd that this feature thus far only affects common acronyms for Transformers trademarks.

So if possible, Can the program be turned off since it is doing more harm than good or is there a way to minimize the issues caused by it.

Thanks for understanding and allowing me to say this.

No update. We've said before that we'll let people know when this is changed. We understand you want this fixed, but continually posting about it and PMing people will not speed this up. Please be patient and we will post an update when one is available.

Thanks for answering my question, I was just a bit anxious (and I do wonder/worry), and I can be a patient guy.

Looking forward to any updates and thanks for your kind reply.
