I've been thinking about posting a comics thread, can I do it with out posting from an image hosting site?

Do you mean, posting your own personal comics?

You would need to host the image yourself. Hotlinking to other sites is not at all appropriate.

There are several free hosting options available, I would recommend checking them out.
