    Next up in our advance looks at the next assortment of Transformers Generations Deluxe class toys we have a look at Dreadwing! Dreadwing is the other redeco / remold in the third wave of Transformers Generations IDW Comics pack-ins. He is a redeco of the stealth bomber Megatron, done to homage the Generation 2 Dreadwing ATB (which was itself to have been redecoed as a version of Megatron, so there is a nice bit of parallelism there).

    As a homage to a Generation 2 era toy, Dreadwing is bright and vibrant, though fortunately the gaudiest elements of Generation 2 have been toned down for this release. You've got a nice contrast of the dark blue armor on the vehicle mode, and the lighter blue on the limbs of the robot, with some clear red plastic on the eyes and the gun to break things up. Dreadwing works really well as a reuse of the Megatron mold, and is an excellent homage to the Generation 2 toy he is based on. The broad-shouldered feel of Megatron's mold lends itself to Dreadwing, whose toy was fairly substantial and bulky, and the new head helps to distance this toy from Megatron somewhat, although there is no escaping that this is a Megatron remold, particularly with that arm cannon (which can double up as a hand weapon, so there are display options to give Dreadwing more individuality).

    Overall Dreadwing is a very nice homage to the Generation 2 toy, and I have to praise Hasbro for going ahead and putting the Generation 2 Decepticon logo on the toy and on the packaging. The toy remains an excellent mold and the new head together with the vibrant deco breathes new life into the design. Very much recommended - and if the fact it is a Megatron redeco has put you off Dreadwing, I would invite you to look again.

    In Robots in Disguise #21, Dreadwing uses an energy axe as a melee weapon. While I did not have a purple one to hand, I felt the Renderform Redemption Axe was a pretty good match for the overall design - I think Renderform did make purple versions of this accessory, worth looking into if you want to give your Dreadwing some extra weaponry.

    I really want to get him, he looks great. I just don't want him to explode like the Megatron version.

    Wow; I'm impressed just how well the colors line up to the original.

    He looks great after his diet :)  I like the picture with his partner Smokescreen, all we needs is a 3rd party shoulder gatling missile launcher.

    Dreadwing is such a better use of this mold than Megatron.

    Kinda torn;
    Already have Megatron, but this makes a good Dreadwing.

    I'll see what mood I'm in.

    Looks so good. I passed up on the tiny Megatron so this is a nice way to enjoy the mold.

    Too much bright blue on the thighs/upper arms. Other than that he looks fine and I'll pick him up. Still want this mold in RiD Dreadwing colors (just swapping the grey for tan) and using the Smokejumper name. And we need at least one more figure using the G2 'Con symbol.

    I think he'd make for a decent Slipstream stand in as well. Perhaps a little butch for her, but passable.

    Okay Idea
    Take the upcoming Armada Starscream Mold & repaint/head remold as Smokescreen with G2 colors/insignia & have the duo back together again (& it would fit the theme)

    A must-have for me, as I do not have to double-dip on the mold.

    This mold suits dreadwing better than Megs. Looks good. Kinda wish I hadn't sold off my uni2.0 darkwing.
