The 2012 Major League Baseball Season is nearly upon us and this is the only time of year when everyone is tied for first place!

In the American League its looking like the favorites are the Angels, Rangers, Tigers & Ray's with honorable mentions to the ever present Yankees and Redsox. The Bluejays might be on the rise as well with a nice mixture of hitting and pitching.

The National League will be featuring some of the usual suspects, including the Phillies, Giants and Brewers. How will the impact of two of baseballs biggest sluggers(Pujols & Fielder) moving over to the American League affect the standings?

Will the Braves continue to grow, will the Pirates turn a decent half season in 2011 into a legitimate full season in 2012 for the first time in nearly two decades? Does Johan Santana come back and elevate the Met's into the mix?

Plus we've got a new wildcard format adding two more teams to the playoffs. It should be an interesting year.

I won't be surprised if the A's lose 100+ games this season.

The A's are set up to be drafting in the top 3 for several years, for sure. Whatever, as long as the ballpark issue is not resolved, it's pointless being an A's fan.

Otherwise, I'm looking forward to the season. The added Wild Card eliminates a lot of the economic disparity and makes everything more interesting. I like that there's a sudden death elimination round to start the playoffs.

I really like the direction the Blue Jays are going in, and in the NL the Nats will be a lot better. I think the Mets are going to completely bomb out.

If I had to pick the playoff teams right now, it would be like this:

    AL:
    Division winners: NYY, Detroit, Texas
    WC: TB, LAA

    NL:
    Division winners: Philadelphia, STL, SF
    WC: Miami, Arizona

Not this year. Maybe next year.

Your team is going to be very interesting to watch this year. Lots of good young players and prospects coming up. Should be set up nicely even if your GM is Dayton Moore.

You team is probably going to be the most interesting team to watch for a good number of reasons. Some good, some...possibly not so good.

Glad I'm not the only Marlins fan here. I did'nt like it when they changed their name from Florida to Miami.

Where I live, most are Braves Fans.

Twins optioned Nishioka to the minors. They should have never signed that fellow in the first place.

That's exactly why I hated playing third base when I played softball. The ball comes at you so fast that sometimes you don't have enough time to react.I can't imagine how much faster it comes at you in MLB.

I'd like to take this oppurtunity to thank the Twins for coming out this year.

Now lets trade Mauer, get rid of his horrible contract and rebuild from scratch.

No action in this thread since May but I have to say I am absolutely FLOORED and GIDDY with excitement that the A's are tied for 1st in the AL West with one game to go. This was an A's team that critics said couldn't win 60 games this season.
