I've never seen anyone else mention him outside of the original thread, and when he's brought up again like this; I know there's bits of red on him, but trust me when I say its NOT paint. I scraped the surface in a corner, and tried Isoprene on it, and it would't come off. Its like the molds were half-filled with yellow plastic then topped up with some red. In my opinion its a Lunchtime special.
The yellow version was likely used as a mock up/sample figure, with the final version being red. Aside from the original we saw, it's unlikely that any others exist.
Its early, so here's the best link I could find on it; http://www.toybender.com/lunch-time-special-optimus-prime-made-crystal-clear/ If I'd had more time I'd have found a clearer one.
If yours is injected yellow plastic thats pretty good because mine definitely looks to be painted. I'd say it was painted with enamel paint and though it was painted very neatly (other than them painting over the back of the light tube for the eyes so now no light go through) the yellow doesn't evenly match over the whole figure. There are parts where you can see a red tint (looks sorta red orange) on the outside. I'll see if I can take some pixs, though I'm thinking this thread isn't the best place for that.
