That Megatron is sooooooo mine!

 

The mystery of why Optimus had one black hand and one blue is solved - his hands are actually painted blue and his fingers are the black plastic.

Starscream does indeed have a silver face. Sweet!

 

Sure looks like Starscream has a painted face there. Cool!

Those images sold me on Mirage, too. While I like the in-joke sponsorships on the U.S. one, I did that chrome spoiler on his feet.

 

Wow, those are pricy even in Japan. I thought the prices I'd seen were import markups.

Those are damn near European prices. Why are they so high?

 

Some are better, some don't do it for me.

Optimus - I'm indifferent, I like the one I have.
Megatron - he's pretty cool in those colours. Might see if I can get one sometime.
Starscream - the chrome looks out of place, the white on his hips looks weird, the jet mode is nice. Prefer this ones jet, but the Hasbro one seems to be nicer in robot mode.
Bumblebee - doesn't look so good with all that extra yellow. The white broke it up nicely.
Grimlock - the chrome is horrid. It looks out of place and it breaks up the flow of the colours. Hasbro's was better in that respect - the whole thing fits together better. I feel the way this chrome stands out, it would have been better to do the rest in a shinier grey to at least match it a little better.
Mirage - he looks bland in car mode, though the robot is good. That said, the robot looks as good as Hasbros.

Megatron's the only one who really grabs me.

I was hoping for anime-darkgrey astrotrain.

Not sure I like the metallic parts, Megatron is nice though, if we were not getting Animated Megs I might have imported this.

 

Optimus: more 'geewunny', good use of chrome/metallic paint. I don't see it as different enough to warrant a purchase.

Megatron: the most radical departure from the Hasbro version, presumably because the requirements for toy guns are different. Seems to either need less chrome or a lot more on robot mode. I don't care for the extra-bright red personally.

Bumblebee: Basically the same, but less. chromed hood 'blower' just looks random to me. I like Hasbro better here.

Starscream: If SS was one of the Botcon exclusives, it would probably look a lot like this. color and paint look a little more solid than the Hasbro version, and obviously more geewunny. I'm not a fan of the upside-down wing symbols or lighter 'anime style' blue parts though.

Grimlock: Grim is one of my least favorite Classics anyway, so I can't say a lot here. The chrome/metallic usage leaves me with a knockoff feel, with a given chunk in metallic color.

Mirage: Both less and more at the same time. The chrome spoilers add to the look, but less painted details take something away.

 

Based on these images, I think I'll only get Megatron (because of the overall paint scheme) and Starscream (because of the painted face).

Grimlock's chrome is a bit too much.
Changes on Optimus are so minor as to be negligible.
Mirage looks bland (plus, I thought the made-up sponsor labels were clever).
Bumblebee looks bland.

The ones I'm really interested in are Cliffjumper (the only classic I didn't buy) and potential seeker repaints.

 

All of them grab me. Especially Mirage...who everyone else doesn't like, I guess. lol I love the chrome on him, and that's why I'm getting two.

Only one that doesn't grab me is Bumblebee. I will pick him up later, but definitely not when they come out.

I don't like Megatron at all. too much random red aps. I'm quite happy with my custom. I do like the robot mode of starscream though especially that he's darker red AND grey, the detail of the hips I feel the opposite of Sol. Same for Grimlock. Those are the only two I really want. I'm happy with my Mirage as well as Bumblebee.

 

The only ones having their G1 color decos are OP, Starscream and Mirage. OP and SS are the best in my book. The rest are meh. I still think it's better to buy the grey KO and use the gun cover to replace the one on Hasbro Megs. This jap. Megs has way to many red details.

optimus and SS seem improved to me, the others might look less appealing than their hasbro counterparts, grimlock, hes just not working for me, im a fan of chrome but i really have a problem with classics grimlock, i recently sold mine, i was happy to pack him off. i'll stick wih my G1 and then the animation grimlock!!

 

While interesting, and definetly cool looking, I'm happy with the Classics that I have.

 

Same, I would definitely have imported Astrotrain if he was show-accurate. Megatron is the only one that would be worth getting, the paint differences aren't worth the price for importing. That, and the shiny metallic paint seems out of place on some of them. If they release Thundercracker, Dirge, etc., I'll import those.
