    Ouch.

If I were you, I'd open it up anyway, and play it in your room. Then on christmas eve, just take it downstairs (I'm assuming your house is laid out like mine), hook it up to the big TV, and delete the save file. They'll just think you opened it to set it up for them.

Yes. You need to make sure that it works before the 30 day return window is over. Right? Right?

OR just open it and then repackage it for Xmas. I doubt your kids will complain because the factory seal is broken.

The trick is getting my wife to go for that... :sly:

(plus my big-mouth 3 year old would probably tell his older brothers - he has a bad habit of bursting into the room)

The simple solution is to take the box to work with you. After work call your wife and tell her "Sorry I have to work overtime." In reality you will be at a motel room enjoying Super Mario bliss.

They sell those shrink wrapping machines to make it even more convincing.

I picked up a copy this morning but went straight back to bed. I plan on playing it this afternoon after my doctor's appointment.

Oh man that sucks I agree with the re-wrap thing, lock the door or play like at midnight or later and when it comes then your kids will be playing and wondering why dad knows where all the stars are. lol

Many Hotel Rooms block the ports in which to connect devices.

No hotel I've ever been to has done that. In fact a lot of business people have to view dvds for business at their hotels so the idea of a hotel blocking ports seems ludicrous to me.

That sucks man, I'm pretty excited about the game (that I'll hopefully be able to pick up in 2-3 hours) so hope you find a way to open it up and play. :D

Ditto I plug in my portable DVD player and watch movies all the time, never came across a blocker.

depends on where you stay...the pricier hotels (80-100+) usually offer that crappy "video game system" with a N64 controller that costs like 10 bucks for 30 minutes, and craptacular selection on N64 games...If they have this, its a certainty the AV ports will be blocked off.

Congrats D_C. Look at it this way, your kids are going to have an awesome Christmas.

Not that I don't see where you are coming from though. :)

my dad bought my brother a game boy for his birthday back in 89 or whenever they came out, but opened it and played tetris through 2 or 3 sets of batteries before that birthday rolled around.

Not true, I have stayed at a La Quinta and they had that dumb controller but still had AV inputs, May be it just depends on the hotels.

Aaron, I just played it for the past three hours. OPEN IT.

Get them another game for Christmas. Like Rock Band or something.

Waiting for Christmas is for sissies. Why pay for something right now that you're not going to be able to use in over a month.

It is your duty as a Mario Galaxy owner to open it and play it. I would if I had the game right now. :(
