Found this guy yesterday at a TRU here in Orlando. I believe it's the first reported sighting, as well as the last of the T.E.C.H. toys. I'm not blown away by the T.E.C.H line, but have to hand it to them for the effort. The realistic sounds are terrific, and the alt modes look very convincing on most of them.
YAY! WOO HOO! CELEBRATE!!!! I don't know anyone (aside from the internet) that owns these things. I've even seen kids reject them at stores.
Screw you Valky, these are the greatest Transformer toys ever made and you are obviously blind not to realize it. You live in fantasy land my friend.
This is new? We've had this at my local Target for a few weeks now. I just didn't care enough about this crappy line to tell anyone. I didn't think anyone else cared, either...
A board search on 'Autofire' returned no current news announcements, so up it goes. If they reissued the Pretenders in flourescent colors, I wouldn't care... but it would still be news.
But that's because Pretenders didn't suck... What people wouldn't care about is recolored Action Masters.
I was going to use Action Masters for my example, and then thought, "No, too many people like those--I'll go with the Pretenders". Seriously though, I'd definitely agree that the TECH toys have limited appeal, but they've been selling tolerably well here... perhaps due mostly to the shortage of everything else. We'll probably see more shelfwarming as the regular bots begin to reach saturation again. In a perfect world, I would have preferred the TECH stuff to have robot modes and been a part of the Real Gear line (as a deluxe size). Oh well. *shrug*
Somebody once said this line was better suited as a GI Joe type toy, I agree. No bot mode+sucks=not a transformer. Although the G2 coloring certainly fits.
if it's not representing something that's alive, a playset, or a transformer weapon/accesory, it's not a transformer to me.
These are the worst line I have seen yet. This line has been out at our Walmart for sometime know and they are still there warming the shelf. That is the only Transformer brand toy that doesn't sell out. I just think people are turned off because they don't turn into robots.
Pretenders as action figures weren't that great, but I like the way they were portrayed in Masterforce. While Actionmasters was IMHO a lame concept, I prefer them to BW/BM. As for Trans Tech, I concur with Optimus82. Trans Tech might have done better if there was a robot mode. They would have made terrific Triple Changers. I'll be happy when Trans Tech ends.
Geez, I'm glad I didn't report this when I picked it up two days ago. I only mentioned it in the NC sightings thread. The lack of of enthusiasm for these is chilling: brrr! (somebody make a smiley of that)
Guys, make sure you report it when you think you've got a first sighting--if it's not, no big deal. Just because you don't personally like something doesn't mean it isn't news. Thanks!
