Well with most people going to see the movie tonight, I figured we should get a definitive thread going on people's opinions on the movie. What you thought of the characters, story, transforming, graphics, sound, Easter Eggs, voice acting and anything else the film covered. I'll be going at 8:00 with 6 of my buddies, so I'll post something in a bit.

    STAFF EDIT:

Merged my thread and Gnaw's original one. Sorry, didn't see yours Gnaw.

Lets use this thread as a "general discussion" for the opening week of Transformers Movie.

There is a whole forum for it here, but I know people are going to want to discuss it as "news" since it is released officially nationwide tomorrow.

Post general thoughts and feelings, mini-reviews, spoiler oriented discussion, "I loved that part" "I hated that part" type talk.

Please only post in this thread if you have seen the movie!

For questions, or comments by those who have not seen the movie, please use the Transformers Movie Discussion forum.

    As in really "official"? XD

    My thoughts:

    i) CGI on the TFs was outstanding
ii) Cullen's Prime is THE Optimus Prime
iii) Shaky camera made it hard to see what was going on at times
iv) Some of the Deceptcons were really creepy looking - insect-like. Eg. Bonecrisher and Frenzy for example.
    v) Frenzy = Comic relief
vi) AllSpark did a mass shifting
vii) Some scene like with the analyst not necessary

Allspark is not a transformer, it's a freaking magical box that creates mechanical life, it can do what the hell it wants.

I've replied to several of the earlier reaction threads, but I think I'll summarise my earlier points here in one thread.

I've wathed 4 times already and It's still great! The movie is totally in the spirit of Transformers, just don't go expecting G1, and you will definitely enjoy it lots. But even then , there is still alot in the movie that appeals to the G1 fan in you, like Peter Cullen's epic performance, coupled with all the references.

The Transformers looked and acted like Transformers. I really wished for alot more Transformer chaarcterization. The Decepticons especially could have been fleshed out more, but as a human perspective story meant to introduce new fans to the Transformers franchise, I admit they really didn't have the time to do so, and the approach they undertook definitely made it easier for non-fans to get in the Transformers universe, so I can forgive this slight.

There are some scenes where I felt the directing isn't that tight, scenes with wasted dramatic potential, but these are also minor gripes. What I'm more concerned though, is with Megan Fox's acting. Face it, the script is full of cheesy lines but the other actors manage to hide it with their acting, but Megan couldn't, some of here lines seemed way too forced.

The mythology is there. Kids will watch this movie and grow up knowing that Optimus Prime is a hero worth remembering. The rest? Who cares.

Twenty years from now, it'll be our kids who are bitching on the telepathic-nets about how the new holographic Transformers movie is raping their childhood memories of cheesy Michael Bay CGI action.

And I thank God for that.

Just got back.. Over all I liked the movie. but that damn shaky camera. and the extreme close up of the transformers. plus a lot of the hacky dialogue took away from my over all enjoyment.

I did have a geekgasm when the autobots introduced themselves though. that was cool.

    On a scale from 1 to 5. I give it a 3 and a half.

oh. and the final battle was way to over the top. it was like a star wars movie with the amount of CGI.

oh oh, and if you told me that the person who did voice of megs from G1 and the person who did this movie were the same person i would have believed you. it sounded almost the same to me.

Holy good god! This movie was freaking awesome. It kept my attention from beginning to end. Action, mixed with comedy, and a love story. The Transformers were very realistic too.

All of the haters will hate to be proven wrong. So they'll say it sucks. But they'll cry themselves to sleep because they know that the movie was AWESOME.

My mind is still racing with thoughts of it...Damn!

    I want to give it an 11/10...but I can't.

    It needs a 20/10.

    Holy Flerking Schnit!
    Just got back.
It was everything I hoped for.
I am definitely going to have to watch the whole thin in slo-mo on DVD.
    CGI was seemless.
The introduction scene gave me goosebumps.
The whole scene at Sam's house was hilarious.
    "Bumblebee....stop lubricating the human!"
Megatron flicking the human into the cab....Priceless!
