    ALTERNATE MODE

A mechanical scorpion. Roll it on the ground and his 2 claws spin quite fast. Push the trigger on the tail and the dart springs forward (there's a stopper, it's not a missile). The arms (all directions), legs (they're on ball joints) and tail (rotates at the base and at the dart assembly, plus 2 hinges in the middle) are all poseable in that mode. In that mode, Scorponok can combine with Blackout for trigger-activated spinning claw action. Pretty cool feature, but it doesn't peg that securely. Still a more than welcomed bonus. Also, all the military markings (CAUTION / DANGER / FUEL / EXPLOSIVE / 0630 / RESCUE / NO STEP) look awesome. That, with the rotating exposed inner mechanisms and mechanical details, gives Scorponok a spectacular look.

    TRANSFORMATION

Super easy (dumb easy?) but fun! Reminds me of the old BW figures. I decided to have the legs transformed differently (see picture), I think they look way better that way and add a bit to the look of the robot. Basically, you just fold the head (to cover the front roller) and the legs into position.

    ROBOT MODE

No knees in my non-official configuration (it does in the official one) but legs are mounted on ball joints at the hips so they can still be posed (and the tail helps supporting the figure). Arms are still super poseable in that mode.

So, for what it is, I think it's pretty fun figure.

Is that how that part (dart) is called? Not sure about the word.

I'd say 'stinger' but dart works too.

I think "dart" is a perfectly applicable term given its shape. In the context of a scorpion, though, "stinger" may be the word for which you're searching. (EDIT: D'oh. HEAT GUY'D!)

He continues to look quite good to me. I dig the colors mightily, and still think the 'bot mode isn't so bad. Thanks for sharing, d00d. :thumb

I think what I like the most about Scorponok is the size. Being so detailed and quite small at the same time gives him a unique vibe.

this is a cool figure, i might get him if i see the blackout two pack before i see blackout alone, and it'd be really cool if takara did a masterpiece or collectors edition of this guy without a robot mode to get a better movie accurate look and probably keep the cost down, that would be a must buy for me.

I didn't think I'd be a fan of Scorpy, and while I don't like the 'bot mode, the scorpion mode looks pretty cool. And pretty movie accurate to boot.

Scorpy looks a -lot- better there than all the previous pics I've seen. I'd swear he's got twice the fiddly paint apps.

I for one support the combined mode, if not because Blackout's already sooooo out of scale with the rest that I feel there's no negative aspect to his fusing with a pair of rotor-gimlets and a scorpion tail. Also just thing it looks batshit awesome.

I like SCORPONOK and I'm not ashamed to admit it!!! Even his ever-so-slightly-goofy robot mode is strangely endearing....

Not diggin it a lot, but I do really like the combine feature on Blackout makes the whole thing look a lot more interesting, pretty neat too.

    Thanks Lumps!

Another thing I might add, I like his robot mode. I think it's, funny. Not in a bad way but in an entertaining way.

So..Question..Skorponoks has markings on him to make him look like he'd be something of an Earth thing, with the "warning-keep away" this and that stickers on him etc..But I don't see him transforming into anything other than a large scorpion and that attempt of a robot..What is he supposed to be exactly in an Earth mode?

I love my mechanical scorpions. I don't care how bad the robot mode is.

You can fold them under Scorponok's belly so the claws point rear.

SamiWCP, Scorponok is just that, a scorpion, so the military marking don't make a whole lot of sense (but I heard he's somehow part of Blackout in the movie?).
