Wow creepy; I’m watching an episode of Man vs. Wild right now. He has just found a small boat and it paddling towards a glacier.
I think they should do a "Survivor: Africa" but instead of their usual bit, they take 30 people, drop them in an area between fierce African animals and war torn countries, and say "we'll meet you here in a month, anyone still alive wins." Now THAT is a survivor.
Hmm. I'm watching Man vs. Wild right now. I'm quite addicted to both this show and I Shouldn't Be Alive... though I rarely if ever seem to catch that anymore.
I score the shows on what they eat. So far Man vs. Wild is edging out Survivorman. But this is based on the episodes I've seen. Man vs. Wild: raw LIVE salmon, raw carrion zebra. Survivorman: roasted frog legs, roasted turtle, roasted bat.
The biggest episode where I really felt bad for the Survivorman was the episode where he spent 7 days in a raft at sea. That would just completely suck.
Well they are both great shows (I watch either one whenever they are on) But I like Les on Survivorman better. Les carries his camera around with him and for those far away shots of him, he walks all the way back to retrieve it. He does not have anyone go with him. It's just him and the camera. Bear on the other hand has a camera crew with him the entire time. Not much of "being alone" by yourself if you ask me. Winner: Les Bear is ex-british special forces. He can probably kill Les. Winner: Bear Bear dines on such delecasies as elephant poo and the bodily juices within it. Les'd rather not out of safety's sake. Bear does top him in gross things to consume but Les (I think) has more common sense and is more concerned about parasite and things you can get sick/die from eating in the wild. Winner: Bear Bear carries a flint to start fires. Les plays by boy-scout rules and uses a stick. Winner: Les Bear usually ends by finding a conviently located civilization. Les has to get as far out of where ever he is and hope his team finds him. Winner: Les Both men have their strengths and weaknesses but I prefer Les over Bear. He's totally alone for a week and has to rely only on himself. If he screws up then he's doen for and can only pray his team finds and rescues him. Bear however has his team with him 24/7 so if someting happens to him then he''l have people on hand to help him. Les > Bear. That's my opinion.
I saw two episodes today where Bear started fire with sticks. And one in the past where Les was given a magnesium flint.
I got to see that then (don't worry i believe you). Of all the episodes I've seen, Bear uses a flint and Les uses a stick. What areas were they located in?
Les with flint, he was down in a valley some where (it was a long time ago I don’t remember specifically). Bear was in a rain forest and used a hand made bow, and the other I saw he was on a Pacific island and rubbed a stick in a groove.
That makes sense. I haven't seen ^those^ episodes yet. I remember missing all of those though. I want to see them do an episode where they have to escape a cave system. Or an episode where they either compete against each other or work together to make it out of the wild. Now that's something I'd definitely watch.
Thought I would send this off to you all... I'm a big fan of Tee Morris, and he did this recently in the "You Spoof Discovery" Contest... All you parents should enjoy the humor....Man Vs. CHILD
I generally preffer Survivor Man. Les actually shows you how to survive, if you happen to find yourself in that situation. Bear typically gives wonderfull demonstrations of what not to do. To me Man Vs Wild comes across like somebody saw Survivor Man, and said "Let's make it more X-treme!" All I could do was laugh when Bear got sicker than a dog, after drinking from a rainforest stream. I knew that was a bad idea, after it was explained on Survivor Man. Maybe Bear should watch more of Les's show.
