Its for the Nintendo DS... click the links for pictures and vids. Wow....i figured it'd be on a console.
no turn based battles? weird... i love it being on the ds though... i love my ds more than any other system right now. i suppose it makes sense being how wildly popular the ds is in japan, might as well put it on the most popular system.
This is a huge surprise, but then again kind of not. It makes perfect sense. Dragon Quest is arguably THE most popular franchise in Japan, and the DS is hands down, far and away the most successful gaming platform in Japan right now. It may have been inevitable.
poor japan... The DS shortages are gonna get even worse now. EVERYONE in japan buys the dragon quest series.
Wow. I am shocked. I will wait to see more info to decide if I should get a DS to play it. If it is about as good as 8 (which I am still working on), I probably will. On a related note: does the DS play regular game boy games?
What is with Square shifting all their big franchises away from turn-based battles and making all monsters viewable on the world map and this big deal with real time battles? I like turn-based, it's why I played FF games until 11 killed it for me. Still, this should be an awesome game, the DS can always use more solid RPGs and Square's the best at them... I'm looking forward to the announced Dragon Quest Wii game, as well, sword swinging and spell casting with the motion controls could be quite fun.
Actually, it's more the Enix side that's working on this. That's okay because apart from Chrono Trigger, I always liked Enix better. Less emphasis on shitty stories and cutscenes and more emphasis on gameplay.
children of mana made me kind of sad. especially since i played it right after pokemon mystery dungeon, and it had the same sort of mission/random dungeon type thing, only not done quite so well...
Children of Mana just got...repetitious. To many repeated of the same dungeons, to little variety in monster patterns, and too little gear to keep the 'What else can i find!' guys happy. Take a loot at the new Castlevania. You have lots of repetition in what you're doing, but there's a LOT more variety. One is boring, the other fun.
