One more reason why I'm NOT gonna have kids. Once they're old enough to walk and talk, you know they're gonna cause trouble.

The parents are young. Kid just needs some guidance, and old fashioned discipline.

Except that most boot camps have recidivism rates that don't justify their existence.

This was probably the straw that broke the camels back in this case. They probably just wanted an excuse to take it to the next stage. Mind you doing it over a christmas thing is a bit extreme.

Unfortunately in this day and age, old fashioned discipline is no longer tolerated. You put a hand on a kid and everyone will be kicking down your door and shouting "child protection!"

I was raised old fashioned by traditional Chinese parents. Which means if I'm in trouble, anything they can grab around them can be used against me.

Clothes hangars, belts, water hoses, etc. And damned right that set my ass straight.

And that's the way it should be. Yes, there has to be a line between Child Abuse and Discipline, but right now, the line isn't very even.

I believe if the kid is misbehaving, paddle his ass. Otherwise, you should never hit your kids.
