Ok thanks to SydneyY, I'm interested in getting a Scopedog toy but the problem is which one? Takara or Yamato's? Can anyone here tell me where I can find more detailed information on them?

Thanks, its a very comprehensive listing but I need reviews..folks who can tell me Yamato released a "normal" Scopedog and a "red shoulder" version and which version is superior in terms of QC etc. :D

Below is the link for the normal version:

Below is the link for the "red shoulder" version.

Can anyone tell me the quality with regards to the 2? Are there any QC problems with the normal one?

I am sure there's someone with Yamato 1/16 here. I personally recommend TakTom 1/18, cheaper and easier to handle (I hear). They come with their Microman pilots and that's great bonus, even if you aren't into Votoms cartoon. Though Yamato sells extra accessories, so if you have lots of money, it'd be great fun.

Max 35 is cool, too. They are basically very well made PVC figures, but handy size (and price :D ) I just didn't like their Scopedog.

Actic Gears are also nice and there are heaps of different ones available, it's just they are so small and fragile. (I broke mine...)

They don't look like dogs at all :(  I was hoping for some cool robotic puppies. Oh well.

Thanks for the reply, SydneyY! I really appreciate your reply...right now I'm down to these 3:

    i) The Takara version
    ii) Yamato normal version
    iii) Yamato red shoulder version

Price-wise for both the Takara and Yamato version isn't much in my country...blast...so I'm undecided.

I checked out the Maxfactory's toys today and they are awesome going for around USD$35-40...The scale is good too, would fit in with my Gundam Fix...any particular reasons why you don't like MaxFactory's scopedog?

But...but you still love this thread? At least the kitty does?

I don't know why they are called Dogs. They are nicknamed Tako (octopus) in Japan.
There are also turtles and tortoises and beetles :)

If they are your picks and since it's not my money :lol  I'd say Yamato Red Shoulder! If you are lucky maybe you can find Yamato's Chirico figure (the pilot) as well.
As for the reson I don't like Max35 Doggie, its head looks wrong to me.

Oh, so you find the head sculpt abit off, eh? I was so tempted to get the Maxfactory series...the store I went to had all the current series...even the Bloodsucker (name?).

This is the only decent review I can find on the net...bummer...decent as it there's comparisons between the earlier and version 2 Scopedog

    http://www.collectiondx.com/node/989

Why do u suggest the red shoulder? Any good things about it? By the way, did the main character pilot a "red shoulder" Scopedog?

    Clear armour, eh. That's different...

I don't say Max35 Dog is bad, it's just personal opinion and if you like the look, I'd say go for it! They'd look right at home with your Gundams. (Came from the same guy, after all, you know.)

Red Shoulder means a lot in the show, that's the only reason I prefer it :)

My apologies but what do you mean, clean armour? After reading further reviews seems that the "normal" Scopedog is apparently more flimsy than the "red shoulder" version...sigh...I normally prefer the definative version of the robots I'm buying, now what I mean? :D

It's in the link you provided. If you scroll down, there are pics of the doggie with the clear armours attached.
And Scopedogs are more like vehicles, so you can pick the colour you like :D

Oh! Now I understand! LOL! For a moment I was lost. I will spend the next few days monitoring this thread and hopefully someone can give me an opinion on Yamato's Scopedog.

Below is a link of the Takara Scopedog...it really looks great! :D

When I asked for a similar advise here before, Emperor Mengde (I think) was very imformative.

I guess ATs don't have much in commom with other heroic robots. They look generic and colourless, though that's how they should be according to the show. They are treated more like tanks.

But I'd still say Votoms franchaise is the second most successful Robot cartoon, look how many Scopedogs are around...Only first Gundam can top that :D

Yeah, looks like we're the only Votoms fans here for now...if I get either my Yamato or Takara Scopedog, I will be posting my pictures here! :D

votoms are the ones ive seen advertised as the best version.

also, everytime i read scopedog, i keep singing in my head "all alone in the world, scopedog, scopedog..." from that stupid nickelodeon cartoon catdog.

Dude, what do you mean the best version? Votoms is the er, universal name for the mechas...do you mean the companies producing the toys? Would it be Yamato or Takara that has been widely advertised as the best version?
