I was just watching our local news here and they were saying that parts of the final scenes in the Transformers Movie were going to be filmed in Detroit. It was kind of cool becuase they spent about 5 minutes on the topic talking about Autobots vs. Decepticons and etc. etc. It was reported as "breaking news" because the Detroit Train Station(which is an AWESOME looking historical building) is going to be getting a "new look" because of it. It's kind of a run down building, but apparently it's going to be the location for at least a scene or two. Also, they're going to be looking for extras soon and they are going to be reporting the information as it comes.

ps - I wonder if GM will want to get some shots of they're headquarters while they're there.

Maybe they drive into an automobile plant and magically create more Auto-botz to help them battle their enemies, the Deseptikonz, with the mystical Ener-gon Cube.

Oh God, this film is gonna blow...

 

More like they're a week behind, can't film in downtown LA anymore, and Detroit couldn't care less if you shut down multiple blocks for filming in the middle of the week because their downtown area is even more dead than LA.

The story location won't be Detroit - they'll be filming there, but it will just be a replacement for Los Angeles - just like they did for The Island.

Also, don't mind the car-jacking joke. It's all in good fun and, as a resident of Detroit that's had THREE cars vandalized in front of my house (broke into my car, stole my girlfriend's car and hit her mother's car) let's not act like it ain't rough out here cause it is.

We ain't number 1 or 2 in murders a year for nothing!

 

Autoplants

It would be cool if they could tie it in, where some of the old cars would be revamped for the second movie. Drive some old G1 style cars in and cut right there.

Acctually.. he shot there for the ISLAND. The scene where Ewans character has his source person killed by the bounty hunter. I am a photographer and I shot there once before. the locaction is beautiful and has an authenticity that few abandoned places have. He prolly feels a battle would produce the kind of decay that only that train station can capture.

Nothing in Los Angeles has this kind of quality.. spend all the money you like.. you wont get it.. few places have it.. this one does..

As a photographer I am in love with the site and hope they dont do too much to take away the quality of it as nature intends it..

Anyway, I can't wait to see when the filming is as I have a couple weeks off work soon and wouldn't mind going owntown to see this! Personally I like the Train station and glad it will be seen on film. It's really creepy on the inside right now though.

 

i can imagine some kid car jacking the old beat up camaro bumblebee.. and then totals it.. causing good ole bumble to get the new body. if they use that 'search and repair' gimmick from the first g1 episode i'ma freak out.

So how do you tell it apart from the rest of the buildings?

Have you ever been to Detroit man? I live in Michigan too.. It's really not a far off comment to be honest. I mean it's like in the top ten dangerous cities in the U.S. So yeah, I can understand the comment.

 

Provide images as soon as possible once filming begins there.
