So, out of the blue I went to Ocular Max's webpage from their FB page: Ocular Max, and while the website looks unfinished, I was surprised to see it features CG lineart of their version of Hot Spot. I assume the Maximas Pro name is for Defensor.

 

Wow. Talk about of nowhere. This has to be a part of their new MP line I think, as I don't see them wanting to be the 4th company releasing a Classics/Generations Defensor.

 

Yeah, I saw this the other day - I wonder if they'll drop the idea now that combiner wars has taken a chunk of the market for this?

 

I'd prefer if they drop this and work on the tons of other stuff they still have going on. Or at least do a character that doesn't have three options already.

 

I don't think it's MP style (maybe scale). For whatever reason, the cartoon model for Hotspot has one wheel in the front and two in the back, whereas the toy is the opposite.

 

looks better than the TFC one by a mile.

 

That seems pretty easy to accomplish considering even Hasbro did it...LOL

 

Reformatted has a different design team from OX, and supposedly OX has a new factory as well, so ideally the two lines don't affect each other's schedules too much. We'll just have to see.

From what I understand, the goal is to look more like the Studio OX art than the cartoon. So, like this:

 

Hmmm, is this going to be a big ol' Warbotron sized version of Hot Spot and the Protectobots/Defensor to go up against WB-01 Combaticons/Bruticus? If so, that'd be enough to persuade me to pass on TFC's Prometheus and go with this instead.

 

TFC's Prometheus was enough for me to pass on TFC's Prometheus.

 

That's kinda harsh. I still like what TFC was able to do with Prometheus (the Mustang alt mode on Streetwise/Gumball, the Tomahawk alt mode on Groove/Warning Line; their Hot Spot, Blades, and First Aid all look pretty solid too; combined mode is a bit of a mixed bag proportions-wise for me though).

No hate on Prometheus from me but money being tight enough as it is what with so much cool stuff (both official and unofficial) being released, some hard choices have to be made.

If MMC's Protectobots/Defensor hits the right mix of G1 accuracy and size (that is, a good match for WB-01 Combaticons/Bruticus), then that's the direction I'll run with.

This Hot Spot looks promising so far.

 

Tfc Prometheus isn't for everyone, sure. But it HARDLY deserves the crap it gets. It's the most solid combiner tfc has made to date, and the proportions are much better in hand. Hasbro's is better..? lol. I'm getting the cw defensor, too. But in no way shape or form do I see it as surpassing Tfc's.

At any rate, if this looks good I'll pick this one up, too. And still getting guardia. Lol

 

This has a resemblance to TFC's Hotspot, but with slightly better proportions. I'm eager to compare the combined mode to Prometheus.

 

Not if this is part of their MP line. I'm quite excited about this......do Groove properly MMC!!

 

Eh, I was hoping mmc would stay away from combiners for awhile. But if they did one Piranacon would be where they could impress us

 

i was set on getting MT Guardia, this looks nice though, would really like to know how big he is

i agree, i would've rather seen some monster/animal combiners rather than one thats been done before

 

Masterpiece combines were inevitable. I'm glad it was MMC that did this. Insta buy.

 

So this could be our first proper mp combiner? And the protectobots   passed on every other combiner but protectobots done right I cannot pass on....fingers crossed

 

Is Ocular Max affiliated with MMC?
