Is it ONLY with commentary, or does it also have the original audio track too? Subtitles?

 

Is that referring to the new cartoon series that is supposed to start up?

 

Only with commentary. As explained before they could not get the license for the audio.

 

They are re-releasing the G1 cartoon.

 

Heh, I just heard about this myself. Seems Sony BGM are released G1 Season 1 shortly. Murphy's Law, it'll be a better quality version than the Rhino ones (no added sound effects, the proper animation reels not the incomplete ones from before, etc)

The extras on there sound really good. I've got two versions of the movie already, but if I have the money, I'll get it for all those extras. The commentary could be very interesting to hear.

 

I hope it is an actual re-release of G1 and not a new release with new cool features, because I don't want to WANT to buy them all again.

But awesome news for those that need the toon!

Aaaaaand hopefully if it does well enough, maybe they will try to grab some of the other stuff? (Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory)

Sorry, I hadn't heard anything about it before. Funny that rights to video and audio are separate. (I'm not claiming it's not true, or disputing anything, just my observation that it's "funny")

There's lots of cool features... but not sure if it's enough to make me buy it again. If there had been a non-commentary track on Scramble City that might have put it over for me.

 

Yeah, Tony's real name is Alex actually. I never understood why everyone calls him Tony.

And that's TOO many special features, it'll take me a few hours to go through all of them.

And I'm probably one of the few people on this board who won't be buying the G1 re-release in 2007. At least for me, the Rhino version doesn't bug me

And if this release is anything to go by, then the re-release of G1 will have a ton of great things on it.

 

What's this like? Does it have any full-render tests, or just behind the scenes type stuff?

My wallet is already screaming. Those magnificent bastards. Say what you will about Sony, but they've got the money to do a cleanup job like nobody else.

Now, I've been trying to figure this out ever since I first heard about it. The Rhino release was the "full screen" right? The theatrical version was cropped from that full screen, correct? Then the full screen version on THIS DVD set will be cropped again from the theatrical version? I mean, that seems extremely odd to me if that's the case. Why didn't they put the cleanup effort into the full screen version, and THEN do the cropping for the theatrical version?

Ah well, I'll probably watch them both anyways, and keep my Rhino copy around for when I want to see the whole shot.

Awesomeness. This is the type of stuff I live for even on crappy movies I don't care about. Transformers test and deleted footage? I'm feeling kinda woozy with glee.

YES! Please tell me the original Jetfire commercial is in there somewhere. Though I suppose not since they probably no longer have the rights to show ANY likeness of that mold.

Oh, please, PLEASE tell me this isn't another one of those DVDs that the first time you stick it in your computer it instantly loads up it's own special player. I swear I've got about fourteen different DVD players installed on my computer, and only two of them were installed by me. The worst offenders were the Matrix special editions.

I'll be looking forward to this. I want details. DETAILS!

The 2007 movie sneak peak is similar to the Botcon one. No robots ( a quick glimpse of a computer screen showing robots in wire-frame, but it's super fast and blurry), lots of explosions, some talking from Speilberg and Bay. It was cool, but nothing earth shattering.

 

Wait is the re-release of G1 going to be to DVD? or on TV as a series?

 

Don't forget the easter eggs, some are superb
