This is impeccable work! It looks just like the cgi design, down to the rivets and all, fantastic job!
Amazing! How much of this is built from scratch? Did you recycle parts from other sets? It looks like it came out of a factory (some kind of really high end factory), incredible work.
He looks fantastic! If you don't mind me asking, how did you approach his shoulders? (the big blue panels) I'm quite pleased with my DMK, except for the obnoxiously oversized shoulder things. I've had half a mind to "fix" them, but haven't settled on the best way to attack them. Knowing what you did might help me solve this.
I remember placing that part on the final stages of my custom after fitting the neck armor and shoulders . to begin with, i did some measurements of the the cgi character then apply it to my desired scale, then made some adjustments needed for articulation i used ball joints to connect the panel to the shoulders for movement /articulation. I didn't have any dmk 03 on hand right now, but observing through pics on the net , the shoulder armor panel is just what you mentioned "obnoxiously oversized " and connectors from panel to shoulders are a tad higher. Retooling that part can make a significant change , if you don't want to take risk on original parts you can always make your own or do a mold of it then retool it, but that's just me ...
It's not so much that I'm afraid to risk them as I'm not quite sure how to flatten them. I suspect I may just need to make them from something else and replace them. Thanks. I can probably solve it. I think I was hoping for an easy fix (as I'm not sure how motivated I am to tackle this- to many more interesting things on my list to tweak). I actually realized how much bigger than DMK yours was after I posted.
Oh yeah, its much much bigger than the DMK 03, I did not use any model kit for base almost all of it are scratch built and handmade, i've attached a photo of it with a Buster Optimus Prime for size comparison. SIZE COMPARISON
Gorgeous and incredible. I love your stuff. It's really mind blowing that you can do all of this completely from scratch.
