I was ready to shrug this off as an excited youngster getting into the hobby until I read this: i have been collecting and customizing star wars figures,g.i.joes,and transformers for over 15 years Then I thought it might be a prototype but he cleared it up with this: I am in no way affilated with ,hasbro.lucasfilm,lucasarts.or takara Honestly though, he made the attempt, needs to work on the paint, but hey! Dare to dream right. I believe we will be seeing this ad nauseum over the next couple months. Hope he makes the money he wants, but, well it's not top shelf work.
It may not be the best painting job in the world but that's no reason to tear into it like that....I quite like the concept Stingray in those colours actually. I think that with the right head remold it would work well as Sunstreaker.
Concept is there but needs silver instead of grey and maybe a modded head. I'll watch it for a while.
Why the hate ? Maybe this is the guys first repaint, not everyone can be a perfect painter. Cant blame the guy for taking pride in his work. To him it's worth that much to others maybe not but dont go calling his work a piece of S**T. Radicon members encourage people so they improove in there work we dont tear them down even if they may not be members of the boards, and who knows he could be a member here . I think its a pretty cool idea for a repaint. I may do this and maybe a head swap or add on or somthing to make it different.
The Radicon's forum is filled with people whose first attempts look very much like this, myself included. I am considered by a lot of people to be a fairly decent basher, and when I started, I doubt my first piece could have turned out much better. We learn from our successes and our mistakes, sir. I understand the need to humor ourselves by other peoples attempts at what we love, but to make small at ANYONE'S best effort is cold hearted, immature and idiotic at best. Please, if you MUST humor yourself at someone else's expense, do it with PM's and emails, not on out board, where people with your attitude will stop others from submitting their work, for fear of ridicule. ' It's not only low, it's a bit disgraceful, and I'll hang up my hat as a Radicon and as a mod before I allow such mockery to be posted. It is not appreciated or allowed.
Actually............if you look at his sold items he's been doing this for a while. This is one of his worst pieces. He has a "female" seeker paint of slipstream that is actually not bad at'all. Suprisingly he's selling these to happy clients so more power too him. I just realized Im obviously in the wrong kind of work tho.
Guys, please either PM a Radicon Staff member and/or use the "report bad post" button in the post in question for a moderator to move a thread. Thanks for your help All Radicons need to read and review the Radicons FAQ along with the Radicons Guidelines and Etiquette. The above links (as well as some of you have pointed out) convey the desires and attitues of just how the Radicons transform and roll out.
Sorry, new member and am used to other, "looser" forums, didn't mean to bring out the attack squad. I've painted plenty of my old G1 toys in a similar manner back when I was 10. But to ask money for that particular effort, well, my opinion doesn't matter, because I can offer no constructive help. And you're right, if someone is willing to pay for it, then more power to him. Sorry for acting like an @$$#0!3 with the rude thread. Won't happen again.
I think this person did a pretty good job. There really wasn't a need to insult this persons efforts. The paint job could be cleaner but this figure is a little difficult to paint do to all the parts. We should ALL support our fellow Transfomer fans instead of cutting them down. I'm the high bidder on the auction and I wish them all the luck on getting as much for there figure as possible. Well, just being big enough to make this post really says a lot, man. Everyone here has made mistakes; it's what we learn from our messes that makes us neat Also, I'd love to see your G1 customs I was looking at some oldskool customs by some of the very first Radicons last night reminiscing about how cool customs were back when I started collecting again. I think you'll find a cool buncha guys here that are more than willing to be friends and offer constructive criticism and encouragement These things (and more) is what continues to make Radicons THE place to be. This: He's posted a ton of custom auctions -- this is far from his first. Heck, he had a gaggle of animated sunstorm repaints and a rotf tracks that were pretty good looking from the pics. The only thing I can say is that he really should have cleaned that puppy up before calling it "done." That really reflects poorly on him, IMO. ... but whatever makes the cash. Man, I gotta get in on this ... need money for more toys/tools/supplies. =)
