Recently started working on a massive kitbash, my ptitvite's inspired devastator.
I've had lots of luck and success as far as my joints and articulation.

However, when finishing the upper body, the weight of an arm is too much for the shoulder's join, the mere weight of the upper+lower arm, make is slowly drop.

Anyoen know of a method or trick to stregnthen the ball joint? the ball is already an EXTREMELY tight fit in the socket.

Sounds like the joint need more traction. I have seem joints where they are rough like fine/medium sand paper and it holds the joint in place better. I cant really think of anything that can make it like that though.

what is sometimes do is put cyanoacrilate glue on the ball joints (just a little) and smooth it out .... when it,s dry you,ll see that when yu put it back in the socket it will be allot tighter

"cyanoacrilate glue" sounds like you made that stuff up hehe.

TC, you think sanding the ball with something very rough, would result in a rougher surface on the ball, which in turn would cause more friction?

anemis, where do i get some of this "cyanoacrilate glue ".//. what exactly is it?

From what I have seen, yes, but you will have to build up the joint with something to make it thicker. Maybe that glue Anemis speaks of, which is very good glue BTW.

Sounds like the old "super glue on the ball" trick to me.

technically, I didn't use a ball/joint for the join, I used the neo shifters joint system which basically is a peg with a socket.

I’ve never tried TC’s idea but sounds like it might work but you will need to bulk it up after the sanding. I usually use several coats of nail polish to add tightness to loose joints. You can add it to the ball and the socket.

BINGO !! just dont put too much of it ... just a thin layer .... as for sanding... be carefull not to sand too much or it will be looser then before...

another concern, is that this ball&socket joint will be disconnected often, being it's devastator's shoulder....

Would it be possible to separate the ball from the rod? Then drill a hole in the ball for the rod to peg into. That way the ball could remain in the socket, and the rod could be inserted into the ball when needed. The ball itself would never have to be removed during transformations.

that's a cool idea, but like i said, it's more of a peg/socket. i'll try some stuff tonight, and/or post some pics.

wow guys! thanks for the super glue reminder! works perfectly now.

the little super glue I put on the peg, hold the arm perfectly in place.
I have 1 leg to attach on, 1 head to sculpt, paint job, and my Devastator (ptitvite inspired) is COMPLETE! i will hopefully have some pics up once I get his other leg on!

Quintesson should be this weekend I hope. I'm still adding light up features on it, which I will put in about a week later.

Rather pathetic if you ask me how he says such things behind peoples backs like that publically, and stupidly so too. Still i guess you two are very similar people to each other so it seems so i hope you both enjoy whatever it is you two have to resort to to entertain yourselves. I'll just quietly laugh right back at you.
