Does using clear nail polish or superglue also work for tightening up pins? I've got a Reflector I'm restoring, I've got the reprolabels ready to go but I want try to stiffen up those floppy legs first.
Good question cuz I have a loose pin on ALT Silverstreak's right arm... I'd love to hear of a solution... I've tried nail polish and superglue but they didn't seem to work... So I used string to wrap around the pin at the joint and then used nail polish to essentially glue the ends of the string down... It's worked so far...
Hmm If the pins are going into plastic holes then you could coat the inside of the holes with the nail polish or super glue, which should make the holes smaller and easier for the pins to grip on.
Yes, the equivalent is thread. Just keep wrapping it around the gap in the joint, and it increases the friction between the parts. My mom taught me that trick back in the day.
One idea, which I haven't tried yet, might be to remove the pin (where possible) apply a material like Lock-Tite on it and reinsert it. When dried, Lock-Tite hardens like a rock.
It's not friction against the pin that makes the joint tight or loose, it's the plastic of the two parts against each other.

Yeah... The string method works though... It's no where near as loose as it was before... He can actually hold his gun up now... It's a royal pain to thread the string and wrap it around the pin though...
Y'know that's an interesting idea. Coat the areas around the pin so that it rubs a bit, I'll have to try that out.
