I have an upcoming MP Optimus Prime custom that I've been painstakingly working on...this is the blue I'm thinking about using. Tried it on a model car my son and I are working on. I like it. You? QUICK VIDEO REVIEW It has not been wet-sanded, gloss coated or buffed yet. IMG_1352 by SonOfNemesis, on Flickr IMG_1338 by SonOfNemesis, on Flickr IMG_1337 by SonOfNemesis, on Flickr
candy paints are usually a silver or gold base coat and then clear colours on top. not sure if SON has used that technique here but it looks a damn fine piece of paint work!
Very shiny. I do my bots in flat colors for not reflecting light in my stop motions. Looks very smooth
Very nice, I like the hue. Does have more of a cobalt shade to it, would go well with a blood red for Prime. Are you rolling with a silver base?
Thanks! It's called auto air which I purchased through coastairbrush.com. After curing, I'll seal it with lacquer clear. I agree I am sure it will, can't wait till it's cured. I still need to wet sand it though first. Thanks guys, paint brand listed above. Yes, candy it is candy applied over silver paint. Thanks guys! It has a strong cobalt shade, which is what I was shooting for. I used a standard silver as the base but I suppose with a brighter or darker silver, I could get different shades. BTW, where you've been man? Long time.
Busy as hell as of late, was working 6-7 days a week for the last half of last year, then had to renovate my house for a few months, sold it and moved into another, and then my wife gave birth again 2 days ago. I do have a project in the works on my FB page you might get a kick out of. As for the shading, you can absolutely pre-shade with candies, though it takes some pretty tight blends in the base coat. Since the candies are transparent you gotta be spot on or it'll show through, not outside your capabilities though. I've been playing around with pre-shading a lot lately, does add a lot of depth without being overwhelming.
