Base coated in Testors Model Masters Acryl Flat Black; drybrushed with Games Workshop Chain Mail, then applied a heavy wash of Model Masters Acryl Brass, and a greenish wash made from Brass and Model Masters Acryl Arctic Blue Metallic. Drybrushed some more Chain Mail to even things out and added some details with GW Burnished Gold and MM Guards Red. Pretty happy with how he turned out, especially since I wasn't all that impressed with the figure out of the box, particularly in his goofy dinosaur mode. I'd like to replace the teeth with something a bit more "dangerous" looking but haven't come up with anything suitable yet...maybe parts of a fine-tooth comb? As always, I'll keep tinkering. I've included a group shot with my Scorn custom, and Slug who's about 70% done. Have yet to start Strafe. Couple of neat things I found when working on Grimlock: 1) the upper halves of the dinosaur head can be removed (two small screws on the back), revealing a more "traditional" mechanical dinosaur sculpt, similar to Classics Grimlock 2) there's a small vertical screw at the back of the robot head which allows you to remove the helmet (reveals a rectangular peg, maybe for alternate helmet to peg into?). Would be interesting to see if Hasbro has plans for a modified sculpt. Thanks for checking out my custom Grimlock!
