Hey All, It's been quite a while since I posted any new projects. But that's about to change. Here is my latest 'WIP'! Menasor V.2! With this version I'm going back to the 80's G1 cartoon style with a more husky and blocky appearance but still add tons of articulation and details. Also I wanted to integrate the cars more into the arms instead of just slapping them onto the shoulders. I have a ton of things in mind to make this Menasor a jaw dropper! You all have to come along for the ride to see what happens. This is what has been done so far. Some things are going to be changed out and new things added. A shout out and thanks to Kevin aka shinobi77 for the parts. Stay tuned! Video link: https://youtu.be/qKv5QpKHOFU
LOL wow, that was fast. It's really cool to see that those parts were sitting on my desk just last week. I like the aesthetics you got going and thanks for the shout out.
Looking good man! I loves me some Menasor (and have just started my own v2 ) Not many figures can donate the parts big or detailed enough to pull off these things. By all means give alternatives.
https://www.shapeways.com/model/726...-extremities.html?modelId=726306&materialId=6 I'd like to see more people build combiners without using any extra parts except the team members (Forgiving of course, fists, feet, and any little armor pieces, though those are nicer when built in)
Those are too big, IIRC they are for titan class figures. From all my time admiring/researching/building combiners I've noticed two camps. One is those who want the combiner to look right and compromise the individuals to reach that goal and the second are the ppl that want a team that just happen to combine. Normally they have compromises in combined form. Neither are right, neither are wrong....it's all based on preference but the donor figures and parts invariably were never built with combining in mind so you do what you have to do to make it work. Just so happens that bigger figures will end up on the chopping board as there literally isn't anything else to use. Designing something from scratch to do that and using donor figures to do the same thing are completely different beasts. Shapeways is ok for the occasional thing but for large areas I'm not a fan, the grainy textures always pulls the eye and it kinda disrupts the figure. Maybe I'm in the minority there.....plus I've always found hands to be a little flimsy from there. Need loads of strengthening to make the work right. Anyways! Alpha Matrix can resume normal order now
Here's an update. The lower body is just about done. I decided to throw every bell and whistle into this build.
Looking good man, I like how this is turning out. I especially like the wheels you added to menasors legs. nice touch bro. This makes me want to start my new project already.
Just looking at this one photo of the lower body I'm seriously impressed, this is going to be pretty damn awesome
Thanks. I am going to do my best. Yeah sort of. They are made from the compartments inside Unicron's legs and polystyrene. They are very easy to make and are very stable. See below.
Update! I wasn't happy with the original arm set up so I went back to the drawing board and rebuilt them. I still have to finish paneling the arms but here you can see the idea I have in mind. Started working on his chest plate too. More to come soon.
decisions After seeing this, incredible work im considering Going the distance.....full combiner in scale with joes.....has anybody done one?
More progress made on Menasor. I added some trailer panels to his upper back and shoulders and finished his right arm.
