ladies and gents,my version of classics skylynx with a target/powermaster berko. (berko was his buddy in the original marvel comics, that's why he sports purple highlights as he was usually seen in a purple suit) originally i planned to bring this bot up to tfcon this year just to show him but in light of how stuffed my bags are getting,he may not make the trip.(it was a total pain to bring up classics omega that one year and overlord was just as big.i don't want to hold him like a child on the plane all the way there again. made from a matchbox space shuttle set,a g1 skylynx also died in the process of making this. the shuttle portion has bits and parts salvaged from a g1 including the guts, shuttle bay engine,levers/mechanisms,pivots,wings,etc.the original skylynx legs were extended with a set of swiveling ratchets taken from energon hotshot. the cannon in the mouth is from the original.the shiny chrome side decals are simply permanent marker,a ruler and some clearcoat to seal it all in. much butchering was done in order to make it all fit the way it should. of note,he is now just over twice the size of a regular g1 skylynx.more to come. the set that this started life as and the slaughter begins.... more to come....
lynx portion lynx portion. to the slaughter house here= x2 optimal optimus primals for the legs animated deluxe bumblebee's torso and legs for all the folding required to hide the lynx head in transport mode and to allow articulation in the lynx head itself. lots of styrene work, the lynx head is actually 90% hand cut/eyeballed styrene, covering the orange claw shown clipped to the stock shuttle sets wing above.because of this,he now sports a spring loaded jaw, strong enough to open wide and clamp down tight on other deluxe sized bots. he also has 10 led lights on his back that run on x2 AA batteries, hidden in the very back, which explains what the square shape thing is with the autobot logo and reflective tail lights. lots of kibble from the bash bin went onto him to help beef him up in certain spots to more resemble is g1 self. here you can somewhat make out the AA battery box on his butt. the crawler/launch pad powertrain/roller. this thing takes x4 AA's and is extremely strong.god help you if you get your hair stuck in there.it can propel skylynx in stock g1 alt mode at nearly twice the speed of the original.it can also detach from under the lynx and go scouting on it's own. cosmos is in there for scale. with the power unit combined to the bottom of the lynx. the lynx found a new chew toy. more coming....
combined modes combined shuttle/launch pad/crawler/dinobird modes. target/powermaster berko bot mode berko serving as his roof mounted twin cannon lights on in standard shuttle mode launchpad mode with lights on with the upper engine bay doors open ala g1,even includes the original gold chromed engine thing, just mounted "transverse" instead of inline. backside of launchpad dinobird mode with other bots for scale with a bot more common that almost everyone has by now. sunbathing outside on the front lawn, thinking someone needs to cut the grass soon or he'll never find the predacons...
I like it! The only thing I'm not sure about is the nose of the shuttle. It makes Sky Lynx look a bit like a puppy, or least friendly. I prefer the angled/sharper nose. Still awesome, though! I love the shuttle platform mode
Glad it's not just me seeing that, the shape of the nose, and the head up pose, definitely makes him look like an eager puppy Fantastic work though, really like it
WOW MAN! This is fantastic! Great engineering! I don't have a Sky Linx in my lines but I'll looking fwd to do something like this in the future. Great work!
Looks just as good on this site TOO!! Chans. I see the note about the O OP arms now in your other paragraph post. Destruction and slaughter on a grand scale to make one beautiful custom
Daaaaaaaamn! That is just insane! Great concept, and the handcrafted stuff is really nice looking. I love the way that the Lynx portion splays out and becomes a launch pad. And he's huge! Did you get that space shuttle in town here? Because it gives me ideas... Bruticusy ideas. Great work!
