now before i say anything else, i stated a while back i'd be doing a custom Godzilla figure, but as time went on it turns out the base figure was too old and melted in the oven come clay-curing day -_- BUT i didn't give up! as you all know the new Godzilla movie releases midnight Thursday night and i still wanted a kick-ass Godzilla item to have sitting on my computer desk, so i bought four blocks of plain white SculpyIII and gave myself the challenge of completing a custom Godzilla sculpture and finishing it BEFORE the release on Thursday. here's what i got so far DAY 1: Sunday created a floral wire skeletal frame then wrapped it in foil to build up bulk without wasting too much clay and keeping the skeletal frame from piercing through any sculpted parts, then started base sculpting clay over the foil to pave the way for bulk-sculpting, no neck or head at this point. DAY 2: Monday started to add mass and structure to the big G's body and fatten out the base of the tail downward to get make it look more like a real tail than a noodle also began work on the head and neck, not entirely enthused with how Godzillas mouth came out, i feel like his snout and chin have too much girth to it, will probably change that later, next thing on the to-do list is create hands and feet then start testing out my texturizing skills. DAY 3: Tuesday began detail testing and started adding a few spinal plates to get the feel of what i want their style to be, also fixed the head and snout by carving alittle clay off and test painted the eyes, and finally i gave him hands and feet donated from a broken Godzilla vinyl, for a size comparison i put him next to my burning Godzilla vinyl DAY 4: Wednesday did even more head touching up and sculpted the middle row of back spinal plates and tried alittle more texturizing, if i can get the last two rows of plates done tomorrow i can bake and paint him up and be done by friday before i leave for motor city comic con!
