Just a little something i whipped up. more pics to come! i did washes on the chrome, chrome red and chrome yellow and used a darker set of silver colors to get the g1 style in. i did minor dry brushing on the edges for contrast/battle wear but very minor on the black parts. Enjoy! Note: he's on ebay EDIT: Dino mode pic added. More pics to come for both modes!
Looks awesome, but may I suggest NOT removing the background digitally? It would show so much more depth and vibrancy.
Thanks guys! ha, there's a unique complaint. I am flattered that you didnt say anything negative about the custom and picked at the background instead. You must really like it I simply prefer the black background to focus on the details, drive the eyes straight to the work at hand to let the viewer see exactly what to expect from me. Thanks Biofan and Grimlockgravez. this must be the effect Mcdonalds has on people to make them say that lol.
First off let me say yes that thing is beautiful! Now I've seen a lot of badmouthing this mold, was that because of the figure itself or just the overly chromed paintjob?
Stunning work on the repaint duties. Leader Grimmy looks superior in robot mode, but am I the only one who thinks he looks like a sausage dog in Dino mode, compared to the better proportions (but weirder tail) of the voyager? If only there were a hybrid, with the best features of both..
I was not commenting on the black background itself, hell that is what I use and prefer..... I was commenting on the total removal of the background digitally. To me, it actually drives the attention away from the figure itself and to the edges where the break between the digital removal and figure intersect. Was not trying to be negative, and if you want to take it that way sorry.... it is just what my eyes immediately went to. Thought I would offer my opinion is all. Look at my example below to hopefully see what I mean.....
Thanks guys no it's still chrome just now has color, although because of the layers, it is a little more opaque, like a marvel legends ultimate iron man I'm surprised myself of how well it turned out. The red parts are completely concealed in T-rex mode. no i think we all can agree with that, but hey, bot mode is so cool though right? Thank you! on the contrary i just thought it was funny. I do appreciate your suggestion, Your background set up is not the same as mine, so it doesnt need any adjusting. I work with what i have and so far it's been going pretty well but you never know if i will pick up on your suggestion. If i do, you'll know it's my way of saying "thanks Z"
