    Hello guys!
I decided to make a quick fix for Masterpiece Soundwave's inability to hold 5mm weapons without them falling out / not standing up straight. I made a set of two 5mm adapters for Soundwave through Shapeways; they simply plug into his hand much like his Soundwave's gun. The adapters fit nicely and can easily slide in 5mm weapons. Now Soundwave has access to a greater arsenal of weapons :D  I just need to get my hands on a Megashoton...
Sorry about the picture quality, I don't have a lightbox set up yet.

Edit: The prints were done in Polished Alumide; which fits perfectly.

Edit 2: The 5mm adapters also work with mp-10. (Masterpiece Optimus Prime)

Finally, a way to have MP Soundwave hold TomServo's gun-tape Shapeways models! I'll get these as soon as I can.

Does it work for mp 10?

Unfortunately I don't have a mp 10 to find out... The adapter's peg that plugs into the hand is 10 x 3 x 3mm if I remember correctly, basically if mp 10 can hold Soundwave's Gun / Soundwave can hold mp 10s rifle the sizing will be perfect.

I hadn't even thought of the gun-tape, I guess I know what my next Shapeways purchase is gonna be!

this is a neat idea, what plastic do you recommend? With the Polished Alumide, did you have to do any sanding to smooth out any rough edges?

First off, thanks! Second off, I recommend Polished Alumide not only because it's the material I tested the model in but also because of how smooth it is. I didn't have to do any sanding at all actually; right off the printer it's texture was surprisingly smooth, similar to the texture of a painted wall actually. With unpolished plastics you'd definitely want to sand / use acetone. The detail plastics would probably be the smoothest.

Thank you! I guess I have to update things now, who knew mp-10 and mp-13 share the same peg system? If it's not too much to ask could you post a picture of mp-10 with the adapters in place? Thanks again man!

    Haha, oddly enough it does:

The little nub on the guns handle fits into the slot on both his hands.

    edit: Fixed link.
