OTL, I know the hi-res versions are too big to post in the thread, but do you have a repository where you could link to the larger versions? I'd love to do some custom printing at a larger scale. Thanks in advance and for all the hard work you've put into this project already!
Not online, but if you'd like I can email them (PM me your address). The only properly large ones are the three on the first page (Ark interior and exterior and the landscape with an electricity substation in the distance).
I have to thank you my good sir for all your hard work. I ended up printing one of your pics in sections of 11x17 inch paper, then taping it together to form a giant background for CW Devastator. Check out the pic. Is this a high-res? Or do you have an even higher res of your pics I can get somewhere? Either way, well done! Thanks, and well done that looks really good! No higher res of that one available I'm afraid, but TBH it looks great as it is
That looks EPIC! Skyfire really finishes it off nicely. I'm still miffed that I was swindled out of Kronos
Thanks! I'm incredibly pleased with how it turned out. When I get Takara Devy or maybe the recently announced TW figure, he'll go on the far right. FT Insecticons and Reflector will fit in there too. I almost didn't get the background, as the dude @ the WM photo center gave my wife a lot of grief when she went to pick it up. He insisted that we didn't have an artwork release and that he couldn't allow us to have it. She demanded to see the manager, and after 10 minutes of not being able to find one, the clerk reluctantly relented. Would I really have to get a release from Hasbro/Sunbow to print this? Or OTL since he did lots of photoshop? Or all the photoshop work I did on top of his? When is it simply "derivative" and subject to original copyright holders, and how much do you have to change for it to be an homage, which gives you the right to print your homage work? I thought the fact that it contained no characters, no logos, nothing trademarked would make it such that no one really cared. But no, not the asshat at the Wal-mart. Note to self: use a different WM, preferably one with an old lady in the photo dept!
bee-you-teee-fulll! ive been tinkering with the exact same set-up for my pax system but as moving soon put the backdrop on the back burner... now im mad at myself... stupid past self always blowing shit for me and future self...
I posted these a week or so ago in the Masterpiece appreciation thread, but seeing as how they heavily rely on Optimus Timelord's amazing work, I thought it only fitting to post them here too. Thanks again, OTL!
No worries, be sure to share it here when you're done! It's that future self you gotta watch, that dude takes all the credit for work that you and past self do! Thanks Sixo, I love seeing how people are using these for their displays. You manage not to get glare or reflections on the tv which I always struggle with taking that kind of set up!
I think it was just luck, to be honest! Can't say I did anything particularly special. Here's a couple more...
Well, I took two of OTL's meticulously crafted/cleaned screen shots and melded them together to make my own widescreen background. The left half is the ark (obviously) and the right half is the mountains w/power plant... I just removed the power plant and crudely photoshopped the seam away with dirt and clouds. It's the only wide one I've done, but I have some ideas for one or two more. If you want to PM your email address, I can try to send it to you, then you can have it printed at your favorite photo place.
Amazing stuff Optimus timelord! When I finally clean up my detolf's I'm going to have to use some as backgrounds for my small collection. Thank you for sharing!
To be fair, not quite the same thing. Toy stages are not the original Sunbow art, and in many cases they have made their own embellishments (fishtank windows in the Decep base for example). No probs I haven't posted any new stuff in here for ages, but here's a shot from S.O.S. Dinobots that I used when I was making the MP ReAnimated vid of that clip...
