What the world needs now is another BH Arcee repaint!

Due to the inexplicable bat motifs on BH arcee, I made her into Sonar, a crappy beast wars toy who transforms from an ugly, vaguely bat-shaped wad into an ugly, vaguely bat-shaped wad. Her bio suggests she's a fembot.

I gotta say I really don't like this mold. It wrecks everything about the RID original. The arms don't peg in properly so the altmode's a mess and she has so much kibble her butt kibble runs into her leg kibble and wrecks her pose-ability.

So yeah, not my favorite mold, but at least now I have a Sonar for my fembot shelf.

Oh, and I added bat ears.

 

Hah I remember Sonar, and your description of him (it was a him right?) made me laugh. Bat shaped wad... Very true.
Great work on the custom! Another Arcee repaint or not, this is different and perfectly done. Excellent paint job.

Yeah I wanted to like sonar when it came out just couldn't, everything about that figure was awkward as hell. This was a very creative idea and really paid off

Oh, I guess I never read her bios, or just forgot over the years.
I'm fine with fat dumpy or tough looking fembots, but if they dont have a hint of female to them we might as well dub Sideswipe a female and Arcee a guy. So yeah, I just assumed the old figure was a doode.

 

Sonar's only a girl because it was retconned by 3H.

I like the idea. Glad some of the lesser knowns are getting some love though, and you did do a good job.

Ah, man! I love this! I had Sonar as a toy; in fact I still have it. She was always one of my favourite BW toys. Probably because I liked bats as a kid.

Given the only fiction that predated 3H was Sonar's gender neutral bio, it's not a retcon.

 

very nice custom, I like the gold idea you have there, might need to incorporate that on the leg kibble, can I ask which gold you used exactly? Also, how did you give those head extensions? By the way, did you make with an air brush, hand painting, or cans?

I am waiting on my RID arcee to arrive (and animated arcee too), but for repainting purpose, I find that at 5$/ea at walmart, the BH Arcee isn't too bad at all for fun. I am sure I am going to love the RID even more though.

From my point of view, since TFs don't have gender, then the only thing that makes a fembot a fembot is a feminine appearance. That doesn't mean they all have to be supermodels, but just slapping a "she" in the bio doesn't cut it for inclusion on my fembot shelf  

I initially intended to make an animated sonar out of blackarachnia, but that custom sort of fell apart. Maybe I'll show off her shattered remnants some day. You guys like remnants, right?

@zfarsh- Mostly she's spray painted. The red, green and silver are done by hand, but the gray and gold came out of a can. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the gold I used and it's run our so I threw it away. I think it's some sort of rustoleum, although I also got incredibly good results of the Ace Hardware in-store brand, even though it's not intended to go on plastic.

I have a RID & a first ed Arcee left. I had planned to turn them into Roulette and Shadow Striker, but that would leave me without a prime arcee at all, and I think she's distinct enough from other Arcee's to warrant inclusion on my otherwise 1-per-character fembot shelf.

 

^ Have you considered some of the Tecrom Headsculpts for your arcees (that is if you buy more of the BH Arcees)?

 

I love that your intro lets us know that this custom was truly a labor of love.
